What many people don't know is that Japanese cuisine also has its own noodle varieties. The creamy white, soft udon noodles are the thickest Japanese noodle variety. They are versatile and are used in many different dishes. Udon noodles are made from wheat flour, water and salt. A creamy white colour is typical for udon noodles. They are very thick with a thickness of between 2 and 4 millimetres in the undried but also uncooked state.
Udon noodles are used in many different ways in Japanese cuisine. Meat dishes with or without sauce are combined with udon, as are a wide variety of vegetable dishes. The Japanese noodles are even suitable for soup. For some dishes, the udon noodles are even fried and brought to the plate mixed with the other ingredients.
