The origin of the small tuber is not precisely known, and it is therefore assumed that the first radishes found their way from Asia to Europe about 400 years ago.
Today, the red-skinned tuber with mild-spicy white flesh can be found worldwide and is a must for every snack platter in this country. Radishes are used as a healthy snack or in sliced form as an ingredient in salads.
Storage recommendation
Radishes stay freshest when wrapped in a damp tea towel and stored in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator. The greens and root strands should be removed beforehand, as they unnecessarily draw moisture from the vegetable.
