Our Cookie Dough has its own story: In 1968, at the request of a fan, we tried to pack cookie dough into our ice cream - a radical idea at the time! Unfortunately, it wasn't easy for our ice cream makers to handle the giant cookie dough chunks.

But: After 5 years of tinkering, we did it! Ben & Jerry's - perhaps the best ice cream in the world, made in the nicest way. Because at Ben & Jerry's, we take fairness very seriously. Fairness plays an important role in the way we treat our employees, how we engage socially and how we develop new varieties for our customers.

That's why we also make sure that our farmers are treated fairly. We support Fairtrade, a worldwide movement that ensures that small farmers in developing countries can survive on the fiercely competitive global market. We source ingredients traded according to Fairtrade standards - including sugar, cocoa, vanilla, coffee and bananas. Since you need particularly good milk for particularly fine ice cream, Ben & Jerry’s works with a dedicated group of family-run dairy farms in its Caring Dairy™ program to support their efforts to create a healthy connection between the land, the animals and the people who care for them.

The eggs we buy for Ben & Jerry's ice cream come from free-range hens. This ensures that the laying hens have sufficient space. The wonderfully juicy brownies we use in our ice cream come from the New York Greyston Bakery, where delicious baked goods lay the foundation for the mission of providing employment and training opportunities to low-income citizens of Yonkers, New York. Our story began over 40 years ago in Burlington, Vermont. Ben and Jerry started making fancy ice cream flavors in a converted gas station. To this day, we produce, distribute and sell the highest quality ice cream. In doing so, we are always committed to using healthy, natural ingredients and promoting business practices that respect the earth and the environment.
