Desloratadine Genericon contains desloratadine, which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines.
How to use
What is Desloratadine Genericon and what is it used for?
Desloratadine Genericon contains desloratadine, which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Desloratadine Genericon is an antiallergic medicine that does not make you drowsy. It helps to control your allergic reaction and its symptoms.
Desloratadine Genericon improves the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal passages caused by an allergy, for example, hay fever or allergy to dust mites) in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older. These symptoms include sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy palate, and itchy, red or watery eyes.
Desloratadine Genericon is also used to relieve the symptoms associated with urticaria (a skin condition caused by an allergy). These symptoms include itching and hives.
Relief of these symptoms lasts a full day and helps you to get back to your normal daily activities and sleep.

Do not take Desloratadine Genericon
- if you are allergic to desloratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6) or to loratadine.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Desloratadine Genericon:
- if you suffer from any other diseases, are pregnant or breast-feeding (see also section “Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility”).
- if you have impaired kidney function.
- if you have a history of fits (convulsions) or a family history of fits.
Children and adolescents
Do not give this medicine to children under 12 years of age.
Taking Desloratadine Genericon with other medicines
Desloratadine Genericon is not known to interact with other medicines. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Taking Desloratadine Genericon with food, drink and
alcohol
Desloratadine Genericon can be taken with or without food. You should be cautious while drinking alcohol during treatment with Desloratadine Genericon.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Desloratadine Genericon is not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
There are no data on male/female fertility.
How to take
How to take Desloratadine Genericon
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults and adolescents (12 years of age and older)
Take one film-coated tablet once a day.
How to take
Swallow the film-coated tablet whole with water, with or between meals.
Duration of treatment
The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of your complaints.
Consult a doctor if your complaints persist or worsen.
Treatment of intermittent allergic rhinitis (symptoms occur for less than 4 days a week or for less than 4 weeks) is based on your previous medical history, can be stopped after the symptoms have subsided and can be resumed when the symptoms reappear.
If your allergic rhinitis is persistent (symptoms occur on 4 or more days a week and for more than 4 weeks), a longer duration of treatment is recommended.
For urticaria, the duration of treatment may vary from patient to patient and therefore you should follow the instructions of your doctor.
If you take more Desloratadine Genericon than you should No serious problems are expected with accidental overdose. If you have taken more Desloratadine Genericon than you should, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse immediately.
If you forget to take Desloratadine Genericon
If you forget to take your dose on time, take it as soon as possible and then continue with your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
Possible side effects
How to store Desloratadine Genericon
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store in the original package in order to protect from moisture and light.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton or blister after “EXP”. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not use this medicine if you notice any change in the appearance of the tablets.
Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. This will help to protect the environment.

The active substance is: Desloratadine 5 mg.
- The other ingredients are: Microcrystalline cellulose, mannitol (E421), magnesium stearate, hypromellose, hydroxypropylcellulose, titanium dioxide (E171), indigo carmine (E132).
What Desloratadine Genericon looks like and contents of the pack
Desloratadine Genericon 5 mg film-coated tablets are light blue, round and biconvex (convex on both sides).
Desloratadine Genericon 5 mg film-coated tablets are packed in blisters of 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 14, 15, 20, 21, 30, 50, 90 or 100 film-coated tablets.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
