Happy omami recipe: Crispy Tofu Dippers

For 4. Ready in 15 minutes

Ingredients:

Dippers:

  • 1 omami Texas Roast
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • Water
  • Marinade from the tofu package
  • 5 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • Frying oil

Cocktail sauce:

  • 100g mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp coarsely ground pepper
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika powder

Tomato salsa:

  • ¼ onion
  • ½ chili pepper of your choice of spiciness
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 100g diced tomatoes from a can
  • 1 tsp chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 pinch paprika powder
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 dash lemon juice

Preparation:

  1. For the cocktail sauce, mix all the ingredients together and serve in a dipping bowl.
  2. For the spicy tomato salsa, puree all the ingredients with a hand blender until you have a creamy salsa.
  3. For the crispy dippers, mix the cornstarch, water, and tofu marinade from the package. Cut the omami chickpea tofu in half lengthwise, divide each side into 8 triangles, dip them in the cornstarch mixture, then roll them in the breadcrumbs (or panko).
  4. Heat a pan with oil, fry the breaded omami chickpea tofu on both sides until it is crispy and golden brown.
  5. Cut vegetables into dip-friendly pieces and serve them with the crispy dippers and dips.
