STIEPROX Intensive Shampoo for severe dandruff and itching
The anti-dandruff active ingredient Ciclopirox olamine is used to care for the scalp in case of dandruff. Ciclopirox olamine specifically combats the causes of dandruff. The conditioner it contains makes hair easy to comb, gives it suppleness, shine and volume.

What is dandruff?
Normally, the skin renews itself in a continuous cycle of about 28 days. In case of dandruff, the renewal process is shortened to about 5-15 days. Due to the accelerated process, the skin cells are not fully keratinized, clump together and therefore detach from the scalp in larger, visible cell clusters, the typical dandruff. The most common trigger for dandruff is a yeast fungus that is part of the healthy scalp flora of humans. However, in case of dandruff, its number is greatly increased. This promotes the development of dandruff.

Why the STIEPROX series for dandruff?
The anti-dandruff shampoos of the STIEPROX series contain the anti-dandruff active ingredient Ciclopirox olamine. This substance inhibits the fungus in its multiplication and thus reduces the formation of new dandruff. Itching is reduced and the scalp returns to normal.

 

Application

• Apply Stieprox Intensive Shampoo two to three times a week over a period of 4 weeks.
• Apply Stieprox Intensive Shampoo only to hair, scalp and, if affected, to the adjacent skin areas.
• You can use a mild shampoo between the individual applications of Stieprox Intensive Shampoo.

What is Stieprox Shampoo and what is it used for?

Stieprox Shampoo contains the active ingredient Ciclopirox olamine. This belongs to the group of antimycotics. Stieprox Shampoo is used to treat reddened, itchy and scaly scalp (seborrheic dermatitis).

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: Ciclopirox olamine. 100 g shampoo contains 1.5 g ciclopirox olamine.

What you should know before taking it

What should you consider before using Stieprox Shampoo?

Stieprox Shampoo must not be used,
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ciclopirox olamine or any of the other ingredients of Stieprox Shampoo (see section 6).

If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Stieprox Shampoo.

Special care is required when using Stieprox Shampoo:

• Stieprox Shampoo is for external use only.
• If you have gray, white or chemically damaged (e.g. by hair dyeing) hair, please ask your doctor or pharmacist before starting to use the shampoo. Stieprox Shampoo can rarely lead to hair discoloration.
• Stieprox Shampoo is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age
  as the safety and efficacy of Stieprox Shampoo in this age group is not known.
• Be careful not to get Stieprox Shampoo in your eyes. It can cause burning and irritation of the eyes. If you accidentally get Stieprox Shampoo in your eyes, wash the affected area with water.

When using Stieprox Shampoo with other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

There is no experience with the safety of Stieprox Shampoo in pregnant women.

• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
• If you become pregnant during treatment with Stieprox Shampoo, inform your doctor.

Driving and using machines
There are no restrictions on driving and using machines.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Stieprox Shampoo
Stieprox Shampoo contains 9 mg benzyl alcohol per 100 g shampoo. Benzyl alcohol can cause allergic reactions and mild local irritation.

This medicine contains fragrances with the following allergens: Linalool, Alpha-Isomethylionone (3-Methyl-4- (2,6,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-yl) -3-buten-2-one), Citronellol, Hexylcinnamal (Hexyl cinnamaldehyde), Benzyl salicylate, Benzyl benzoate, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Isoeugenol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Lilial), Limonene, Benzyl alcohol, Amyl cinnamaldehyde, Amyl cinnamyl alcohol, Anisyl alcohol (Anisyl alcohol), Benzyl cinnamate, Cinnamal, Cinnamyl alcohol, Citral, Farnesol. These can cause allergic reactions. In addition to allergic reactions in sensitized patients, non-sensitized patients can be sensitized.

How to take the medicine

How to use Stieprox Shampoo?

• Apply Stieprox Intensive Shampoo two to three times a week over a period of 4 weeks.
• Apply Stieprox Intensive Shampoo only to hair, scalp and, if affected, to the adjacent skin areas.
• You can use a mild shampoo between the individual applications of Stieprox Intensive Shampoo.

How to apply Stieprox Shampoo

1.	Moisten the hair.
2.	Apply a sufficient amount of Stieprox Shampoo to lather the scalp, hair and adjacent
affected areas.
3.	Massage the scalp and, if necessary, the adjacent skin areas vigorously with your fingertips.
4.	Rinse hair and scalp thoroughly.
5.	Repeat application steps 2 to 4. Stieprox Shampoo should act on the scalp for a total of 3 – 5 minutes, for
both applications combined.
	Be careful not to get Stieprox Shampoo in your eyes. If this happens, rinse
them thoroughly with clean water.

If you accidentally swallow Stieprox Shampoo
The ingredients of Stieprox Shampoo are not expected to be harmful if small amounts are swallowed. If Stieprox Shampoo accidentally gets into your mouth, rinse it out immediately with water. If large amounts of Stieprox Shampoo are accidentally swallowed, consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not use Stieprox Shampoo after the expiry date which is stated on the carton (,,Usable until") and the bottle (,,Usable until" or ,,EXP") on the bottom of the bottle. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. This helps to protect the environment.
