Winery Zahel Blanc de Blanc Nature Demeter 2020

Demeter Blanc de Blanc Brut Nature Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC 12% Vol.

This Blanc de Blanc comes from an old vine at almost 400m above sea level in the southwest of Vienna.

This mixed vineyard consists of 7 grape varieties and these grow on sandstone with clay schist and dolomite limestone in the subsoil.

The barren soil and the long fine yeast storage give a chalky spice.

Style: light straw yellow, fine perlage, spicy citrus and apple fruit; creamy aromas of toast and cold smoke; elegant acidity with a creamy texture and a long, mineral finish.

The Weingut Zahel is now in its 4th generation, with the Wiener Gemischter Satz being the focus from the very beginning.

About 30 years ago, the winery wrote "Wiener Gemischter Satz" on a wine label for the first time, thus initiating a renaissance for the company. Today, the winery is the only Viennese winegrower to cultivate vineyards in all of Vienna's wine-growing zones on approx. 30 ha of vineyards. The wine-growing regions in Mauer, Oberlaa and am Nussberg are of particular importance.

Since the 2017 vintage, Weingut Zahel has been 100% organically certified with all of its vineyards. And since the 2018 vintage, the winery has been able to count itself among the Demeter winegrowers and is Vienna's only Demeter winery. For Weingut Zahel, biodynamics means preserving healthy soils and biodiversity in harmony with nature and people.
