French Label Rouge free-range chicken, without giblets (ready to grill).
The south-west of France is one of the largest regions where poultry with the Label Rouge (the official French quality label for the highest breeding standard) is bred. It is an area with exceptional climatic conditions and a source of purely natural feed (grass, insects). In addition, the poultry is fed with cereals and corn. This gives the meat a yellow colour and enhances its taste. In this ideal, stress-free free-range environment, the chicken is kept for at least 81 days. This gives the meat exceptional nutritional values - a high protein and a low fat content. The perfect living conditions of the chickens are also reflected in the exceptional taste of the meat.
A product labelled with the Label Rouge (Red Label) is a sign of safe quality in France, which is also legally defined. Such a product must have a number of specific characteristics. The French Accreditation Commission (COFRAC) monitors compliance with the regulations, and the National Institute for Origin and Quality (INAO) is responsible for the quality and origin of the food labelled with the label. The animals for the Label Rouge are selected for their high quality and only the traditional agricultural methods have to be followed.
