The unique triple combination of rosemary, centaury and lovage offers a broad spectrum of activity1 against a variety of possible pathogens and has a 4-fold effect in acute cases. Canephron® forte - strong for cystitis relieves burning and pain dissolves cramps supports the flushing out of bacteria The ingredients combine pain-relieving, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effects, which are particularly effective in acute therapy. The anti-adhesive effect of Canephron® forte means that germs are less able to adhere to the bladder wall and are increasingly flushed out. Canephron® forte can be used for acute symptoms of an uncomplicated urinary tract infection for recurrent cystitis to prevent secondary infections and as an adjunct to an antibiotic.
How is it used?
What is Canephron forte and what is it used for?
Canephron forte is a traditional herbal medicinal product
- for the supportive treatment and supplementation of specific measures for mild symptoms (such as frequent urination, burning during urination and frequent urge to urinate) in the context of inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract,
- for flushing the urinary tract to reduce the deposition of kidney gravel.
The medicinal product is a traditional herbal medicinal product which is registered exclusively on the basis of long-standing use for the mentioned areas of application.
The user should consult a doctor or qualified healthcare professional if the symptoms persist during use of the medicinal product or if side effects not mentioned in the package leaflet occur.

- 36 mg lovage root
- 36 mg rosemary leaves
Colloidal silicon dioxide, highly dispersed
Coating: calcium carbonate, castor oil, native, iron oxide (E 172), dextrin, glucose syrup, spray-dried, montan glycol wax, povidone K30, sucrose, shellac, wax-free, talc, ribofl

What should you consider before taking Canephron forte?
Canephron forte must not be taken,
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active ingredients, to other Apiaceae (Umbelliferae, e.g. anise, fennel), to anethole (a component of essential oils) or to any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product listed in section 6.
- in case of stomach ulcers.
- in case of oedema due to impaired heart or kidney function and/or if reduced fluid intake has been recommended by the doctor.
Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor immediately if you experience persistent fever, lower abdominal pain, cramps, blood in the urine,
difficulty urinating and acute urinary retention.
Children
There is insufficient data on the use of this medicinal product in children under 12 years of age. The medicinal product should therefore not be used in children under 12 years of age.
Taking Canephron forte together with other medicinal products
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
Interactions with other medicinal products are not known to date. No clinical studies have been conducted to investigate interactions.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice
before taking this medicine.
Canephron forte can be considered during pregnancy if deemed necessary by the doctor.
It is not known whether Canephron forte or its active ingredients/metabolites pass into breast milk. Canephron forte should not be used during breast-feeding.
There are no data on the effect on fertility in humans.Driving and using machines
No studies have been conducted on the effect of Canephron forte on the ability to drive and use machines.
Canephron forte contains the sugars glucose, lactose and sucrose.
Therefore, please only take this medicinal product after consulting your doctor if you are aware that you suffer from a sugar intolerance.
Diabetic note:
One coated tablet contains an average of 0.3 g of available carbohydrates.
How should the medicine be taken?
How should Canephron forte be taken?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over take 1 coated tablet 3 times a day.
Method of administration:
For oral use
Take a single dose of Canephron forte 3 times a day (morning, noon, evening).
Take Canephron forte unchewed and preferably with some liquid, e.g. a glass of water.Abundant fluid intake supports the therapy.
- If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 days, contact your doctor.
- The medicinal product should not be used for self-medication for longer than 2 weeks.
Use in children
Canephron forte should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
There is insufficient data for specific dosage recommendations for patients with impaired renal/hepatic function
If you have taken more Canephron forte than you should
If you have taken more Canephron forte than you should, please inform your doctor. He/she can decide on any necessary measures. The side effects listed below may occur more frequently.
No cases of overdose have been reported to date.
If you forget to take Canephron forte
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

How should Canephron forte be stored?
Do not store above 30 °C.
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the container (blister pack). The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you have finished using it. You help to protect the environment.

The active ingredients are:

Centaurii herba (centaury) 36 mg, Levistici radix (lovage root) 36 mg, Rosmarini folium (rosemary leaves) 36 mg
The other ingredients are:
Tablet core: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, maize starch, povidone K 25, highly dispersed silicon dioxide
Coating: calcium carbonate, native castor oil, iron oxide (E172), dextrin, spray-dried glucose syrup, montan glycol wax, povidone K 30, sucrose (saccharose), shellac (wax-free), talc, riboflavin (E101), titanium dioxide (E171)
