Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution is a medicine for the treatment of fungal skin infections (mycoses). Due to the broad spectrum of activity of clotrimazole, the solution is effective against many different pathogens that cause fungal skin infections in humans. Local application inhibits or kills the fungal species that occur in foot and nail fungal infections. The solution not only works on the surface of the skin, it also penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin.

Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution is used for fungal infections of the feet, mostly in the interdigital space, the sole of the foot and the nails.
Itchy blisters, redness and scaling, as well as swelling are usually clear indications of a fungal infection.

if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution listed in section 6.

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution.
If your symptoms worsen or do not improve, you should definitely see a doctor.
If you are known to be hypersensitive to propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol or sensitive to isopropanol, it is advisable to use a dosage form that is free of these substances (e.g. Canesten Clotrimazole - Cream) instead of the solution.
Other skin conditions, even on other parts of the skin, which are suspected of being a fungal infection, should not be self-treated. In these cases, treatment should only be carried out on the orders of a doctor.
If the solution is used at the same time as latex products (e.g. condoms, diaphragms) or locally applied chemical contraceptives (e.g. vaginal suppositories), the effectiveness of these products may be reduced and thus their safety may be impaired.
The solution must not come into contact with mucous membranes or eyes. Do not swallow.
Use of Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using, have recently taken / used or intend to take / use any other medicines
Canesten Clotrimazole should not be used together with other medicines for fungal infections (e.g. amphotericin, nystatin).
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Pregnancy
There is no evidence to suggest that harmful effects on the mother and child are to be expected if used during pregnancy. As a precaution, clotrimazole should not be used during the first 3 months of pregnancy.
Breast-feeding
You should not breast-feed while being treated with Canesten.
Fertility
No studies have been conducted on the effect of clotrimazole on fertility, but animal studies have shown no harmful effects of the drug.
Driving and using machines
The ability to react when driving or operating tools or machines is not impaired.

Canesten Clotrimazole Solution contains propylene glycol
This medicine contains 546 mg/g propylene glycol. This can cause skin irritation and irritation of the mucous membranes or eyes.
How should the medicine be taken?
How to use Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
To ensure complete healing, treatment should be continued as directed below, even if the symptoms have disappeared. The solution is intended for use on the skin.
The solution is applied thinly to the affected areas of skin 2 - 3 times a day and rubbed in. Due to its intensive effectiveness, a few drops are usually sufficient for an area about the size of a hand.
Wash your feet before each application to remove loose skin flakes. Then dry thoroughly, because fungi love moisture.
Use in children and adolescents
Data on a limited number of newborns, infants, toddlers, children and adolescents do not indicate any negative effects when using Canesten Clotrimazole Solution.
If you have used more Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution than you should.
No cases of overdose are known.
If you forget to use Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution
Do not use a larger amount of Canesten Solution the next time, but continue treatment as recommended.
If you stop using Canesten Clotrimazole - Solution
Reliable and sufficiently long use is particularly important for a full treatment success and to achieve complete healing of the fungal infection; it should not be discontinued after the acute subjective symptoms or inflammatory symptoms have subsided. At the same time, hygiene measures should also be observed.
In the case of athlete's foot, treatment should be continued for about 3-4 weeks beyond the disappearance of all signs of the disease, despite rapid improvement. The treatment time is at least
4 weeks.
What else can you do?

Change towels, laundry and socks that come into contact with the affected area of skin daily. This simple measure alone supports healing and prevents transmission to other parts of the body and to other people.
Nail fungal infections are more difficult to treat. It is advisable to cut or file the nails short.
See a doctor if the symptoms have not improved within 4 weeks of starting treatment.
