What is Mundisal Gel and what is it used for?
Upon local application of Mundisal Gel, the active ingredient choline salicylate is rapidly absorbed through the oral mucosa and achieves a good analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect in a very short time.
The pain relief sets in after 2 to 3 minutes and lasts for about 2 to 5 hours.
Mundisal Gel is sugar-free and well tolerated by the mucous membrane.

For pain and inflammation, for injuries and ulcers in the mouth, nose and throat, such as pressure and sores caused by dentures and orthodontic appliances, teething problems.
If you do not feel better or even worse after a few days, contact your doctor.

What should you consider before taking it?
What should you consider before using Mundisal Gel?
Mundisal Gel must NOT be used,
if you are allergic to choline salicylate, other non-acetylated salicylates or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
For safety reasons, Mundisal Gel must not be used in the last third of pregnancy.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Mundisal Gel.
- In alcoholics, since Mundisal Gel contains 43% vol. ethanol and alcoholics must avoid alcohol.
- In children under 12 years of age, however, the amount of salicylate available in the bloodstream after application of Mundisal Gel to the oral mucosa is so small that the
intended use of Mundisal Gel in children with teething problems is possible even without a doctor's order. - A daily dose of 250 mg choline salicylate (equivalent to one third of a tube) must not be exceeded. Approximately 1170 mg of ethanol (alcohol) are administered.
- Mundisal Gel must not be applied more than 8 – 10 times a day.
- The amount of a single dose must not exceed the size of a pea.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
Interactions with other agents are not to be expected if the recommended dosage and type of application are adhered to.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. Use in pregnant women and during breast-feeding may only be carried out on the express instructions of a doctor.
For safety reasons, Mundisal Gel must not be used in the last third of pregnancy. During the first two thirds of pregnancy and during breast-feeding, the specified dosage must not be exceeded.
Driving and operating machinery
Mundisal Gel has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
How should the medicine be taken?

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Method of application:
Mundisal Gel is intended for use in the mouth, nose and throat.
Open the tube with the tip on the screw cap. Apply the gel to the painful or diseased area with a clean finger and massage it in gently.
Dosage:
Apply about 1 cm of gel (pea-sized) to the painful area 3 – 4 times a day.
Use in children and adolescents:
Use in children and adolescents for teething problems is possible without a doctor's order.
If you have used more Mundisal Gel than you should
The signs of a salicylate overdose are:
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Tinnitus
- Hearing impairment
- Confusion
- Drowsiness
- Sweating
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Increased respiration
- Central nervous disorders
- Delirium
- Tremor
- Electrolyte imbalance
- Respiratory acidosis and metabolic acidosis
- Metabolic acidosis
- Fever
- Dehydration
- Unconsciousness
- Circulatory and renal failure
If you forget to use Mundisal Gel
do not apply double the amount if you have forgotten the previous application, but continue the application as usual.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
