The active ingredient in Tonsillol gargle solution, dequalinium chloride, is a quaternary ammonium compound with surface-active properties.

Application

WHAT IS Tonsillol gargle solution AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

The active ingredient in Tonsillol gargle solution, dequalinium chloride, is a quaternary ammonium compound with surface-active properties. Dequalinium chloride acts on numerous pathogens, but mainly on gram-positive bacteria, by destroying their cell wall and inactivating the enzymes by adhering to the bacterial cell wall. The
effect is seen in a change in the permeability of the cell membranes of the germs. In higher concentrations, dequalinium chloride has a germicidal effect.

Tonsillol gargle solution is used
- for infectious diseases of the oral and pharyngeal cavity caused by pathogens sensitive to dequalinium chloride, such as gingivitis, inflammation of the oral mucosa, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis
- as an additional medication for purulent angina
- for oral thrush (fungal infection)

Tonsillol gargle solution can be used after tonsillectomy and tooth extraction to promote uncomplicated healing.
