What should you consider before taking it?

Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees must not be taken,

  • if you are allergic to dimenhydrinate or any of the other ingredients of Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees listed in section 6
  • if you have phenylketonuria
  • if you are suffering from an acute asthma attack
  • if you have a narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract
  • if you have an intestinal obstruction
  • during therapy or at least one to two weeks after therapy with MAO inhibitors (antidepressants)
  • if you suffer from epilepsy or eclampsia
  • if you suffer from glaucoma
  • if you have an enlarged prostate
  • if you have a certain tumour (phaeochromocytoma)
  • if you suffer from disorders of blood pigment formation
  • at the onset of labour

Warnings and precautions

Special care must be taken when taking Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees:

  • in case of impaired liver function
  • heart rhythm disorders
  • potassium deficiency
  • magnesium deficiency
  • in case of slowed heart rate
  • in case of severe heart disease (especially in case of coronary artery disease)
  • when using medications that alter the heartbeat (e.g. antiarrhythmics of classes IA or III, antibiotics, malaria treatments, antihistamines, neuroleptics) or that trigger a stage with potassium deficiency
  • in case of chronic respiratory problems and asthma
  • in case of a narrowing of the stomach outlet

The first signs of side effects should be reported to the doctor immediately.

  • sedatives, painkillers, sleeping pills
  • agents that suppress the effect of acetylcholine (e.g. atropine,
    biperiden or tricyclic antidepressants)

The simultaneous intake of Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees and blood pressure lowering medications can trigger tiredness and low blood pressure.Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees can falsify allergy tests.

Taking Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees together with food and drinks

No alcohol should be consumed during treatment with Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees, as alcohol can alter and enhance the effect of Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees in an unpredictable manner.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

In the first 6 months of pregnancy, the active ingredient chewing gum should only be used if non-medicinal measures remain ineffective. During the last weeks of pregnancy, Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees must not be used, as they could trigger premature labour.

For diabetics:
Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees contain sugar corresponding to 0.04 bread units.

Please only take Travelgum after clarifying the following points with your doctor:
- Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees contain a phenylalanine source (aspartame) and are therefore harmful to people with phenylketonuria.
- Patients with the rare problem of hereditary fructose intolerance should not use this medication.

In the case of known travel sickness, an active ingredient chewing gum should be chewed for about 10 minutes 15 - 30 minutes
before the start of the journey. If, despite the use of an active ingredient chewing gum, initial symptoms (nausea and vomiting) occur, a second active ingredient chewing gum can be used.

Children from 6 to 14 years: The recommended dose is a maximum of 3 active ingredient chewing gums per day. The time interval between the individual doses of one chewing gum should be about 8 hours.

Adults and adolescents from 14 years: The recommended dose is a maximum of 6 active ingredient chewing gums per day. The time interval between the individual doses of 1 - 2 chewing gums should be about 8 hours.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken a larger amount of Travelgum 20 mg - Chewing Gum Dragees
than you should

Possible overdose symptoms may include:
Clouding of consciousness, visual disturbances, rapid heartbeat, feeling of heat, hot and flushed skin, constipation, restlessness, muscle twitching and delusions.

Very high doses can lead to seizures, respiratory problems and cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrhythmias can also occur.
Please inform your doctor immediately if the signs described above occur.

The active ingredient is: dimenhydrinate.

Chewing gum core:
Aspartame, dextrin, chewing gum base (isobutylene/isoprene copolymer, petroleum wax, polyvinyl acetate, polyethylene, polyisobutylene, synthetic terpene resins,
glycerin monostearate, calcium carbonate, butylhydroxytoluene, traces of soy lecithin), hardened fat, magnesium oxide, magnesium stearate, levomenthol, Eudragit S 100, Eudragit S 12.5, natural peppermint flavour, saccharin sodium, silica, sorbitol, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide, white beeswax.
