The Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is one of the most widely distributed food fish in the world. The elongated, silvery fish with its black spots is originally found in the North Atlantic as far as Portugal. The fish swim up to 4000 kilometers in rivers to spawn. In aquaculture, the fish are farmed in Norway, Scotland and as far as South America. In addition to many important vitamins, it has a high content of omega-3 fatty acids.
Our Fjoru ASC salmon comes from sustainably certified, family-run farms in the cold waters of northern Norway. The founding family has been paying attention to the entire value chain for many decades - from rearing to processing the product.
The sustainable philosophy is underlined by the use of algae-based feed oil. By using 1 ton of feed oil, the stock of 66 tons of anchovies is saved, which are used as a vital oily component of the feed in traditional salmon production. In addition, this sustainable feeding provides our Fjoru ASC salmon with up to 60% more unsaturated omega-3 acids than conventional salmon. This is crucial for your health and the health of your loved ones.
Taste and preparation:
The tail piece of the salmon is somewhat fatter than the middle piece of the fish and more intense in aroma. Farmed fish are usually fatter and juicier than wild salmon. In addition to many important vitamins, it has a high content of omega-3 fatty acids.
The tail piece is particularly suitable for pan-frying, but also wonderful for processing in pasta sauces and fish soups. The salmon is very versatile and an absolute all-rounder in the kitchen.
