Conventional adhesives are water-soluble and work according to the "suction principle". The saliva between the denture and the jaw is thickened and the denture only sticks to the jaw. Similar to two wet discs that stick together but float movably on a liquid film, the denture can shift or even detach from the jaw. fittydent is insoluble in water and works according to the "chewing gum principle". fittydent sticks instead of just adhering. The two discs can neither be separated nor moved - they stick firmly together. This means: a secure hold and no shifting or slipping. For a chewing gum to stick to a surface, it must be dry. Therefore, fittydent consists of two components. First, one absorbs the moisture of the oral mucosa and ensures a dry surface. The other component provides the long-lasting "adhesive effect". The bonding cream is insoluble in water, but, like chewing gum, it absorbs liquid and thus slowly becomes softer. At a certain stage, the adhesive effect turns into a sticking effect. The prosthesis can now be removed without any problems. Accordingly, the adhesive duration also depends on the amount of adhesive cream used.
