Desloratadine Sandoz contains desloratadine, which is one of the antihistamines.
How does Desloratadine Sandoz work?
Desloratadine Sandoz is an anti-allergic medicine that does not make you sleepy. It helps to control your allergic reaction and its signs.
When should Desloratadine Sandoz be used?
Desloratadine Sandoz improves the signs of allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal passages caused by an allergy, for example hay fever or dust mite allergy) in adults and young people aged 12 and over. These signs include sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itching of the palate and itchy, red or watery eyes.
Desloratadine Sandoz is also used to get rid of signs associated with urticaria (skin condition caused by an allergy). These signs include itching and wheals.
The elimination of these signs lasts a whole day and helps you regain your normal daily activity and sleep.
If you do not feel better or even worse after 10 days, consult your doctor.

Desloratadine Sandoz must not be taken
- if you are allergic to desloratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6, or to loratadine
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Desloratadine Sandoz: - if you have a history or a family history of seizures
- if you have impaired kidney function
- if you have any other medical conditions, are pregnant or breast-feeding (see also section "Pregnancy, lactation and fertility")
Children and adolescents
Do not administer this medicine to children under 12 years of age.
Taking Desloratadine Sandoz with other medicines Desloratadine Sandoz is not known to interact with any other medicines. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicinal products.
Take Desloratadine Sandoz with food, drink and alcohol
Desloratadine Sandoz can be taken independently of meals.
Do not consume alcohol with caution during treatment with Desloratadine Sandoz.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
The use of Desloratadine Sandoz is not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Reproductive capacity
Data on male/female reproductive capacity are not available.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
When taken at the recommended dose, this medicine is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Although drowsiness does not occur in most people, it is recommended that you refrain from activities that require mental alertness such as driving or operating machinery until your personal response to the medicine has adjusted
How to take the medicine

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults and adolescents (12 years and over)
The recommended dose is one tablet once a day with water, with or without food.
This medicine is for oral use.
Swallow the tablet whole (unchewed).
The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of your symptoms. Consult a doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen.
- If your allergic rhinitis is intermittent (symptoms occur less often than 4 days a week or last less than 4 weeks), treatment will be based on your previous course of the disease. Once the symptoms have subsided, you can stop taking the medicine and resume taking it if they recur.
- If your allergic rhinitis is persistent (symptoms occur on 4 or more days per week and last for more than 4 weeks), a longer course of treatment is recommended.
- For urticaria, the duration of treatment may vary from patient to patient. Therefore, you should follow your doctor's instructions.
Take Desloratadine Sandoz only in the amount prescribed for you. No serious problems are expected if you accidentally overdose. If you have taken more Desloratadine Sandoz than you should, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you forget to take Desloratadine Sandoz .
If you forget to take your dose on time, take it as soon as possible and then go back to your normal treatment schedule. Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten to take it before.
If you stop taking Desloratadine Sandoz .
If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
What are the possible side effects?
How should Desloratadine Sandoz be kept?
No special storage conditions are required for this medicinal product.
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
You must not use this medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the outer carton and blister after "EXP" and "EXP" respectively. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
You must not use the medicine if you notice any change in the appearance of the tablets.
Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. By doing so, you are helping to protect the environment.

What Desloratadine Sandoz contains
- The active substance is desloratadine. Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg desloratadine.
- The other ingredients are:
Film tablet core: maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, hydrogenated vegetable oil (type 1)
Film tablet coating: Opadry Blue 03B50689 (hypromellose E 464, titanium dioxide E 171, macrogol 400 E 1521, indigocarmine, aluminium salt E 132)
What Desloratadine Sandoz looks like and contents of the pack
Desloratadine Sandoz are light blue, round, biconvex film-coated tablets with "5" embossed on one side. Diameter 6.50 ± 0.10 mm.
Desloratadine Sandoz is available in blister packs of OPA/Alu/PVC/Alu or in blister packs of PVC/Aclar/Alu.
