The active ingredient dexpanthenol is rapidly converted in the cells into panthotenic acid, which is a vitamin of the B complex. Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment promotes the healing of skin and mucous membranes in the case of minor injuries (including minor burns and abrasions) and skin irritations (e.g. as a result of sunburn).
For nursing mothers, Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment is used to prevent and treat sore nipples.
In baby care, Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment is used to prevent and treat sores.
Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment is used to prevent and treat dry, cracked or chapped skin.

What is Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment and what is it used for?
The active substance dexpanthenol is rapidly converted in the cells into pantothenic acid, which is a vitamin of the B complex. Pantothenic acid is indispensable for the build-up and regeneration of skin and mucous membrane.
- Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment promotes the healing of skin and mucous membranes in the case of minor injuries (including minor burns and abrasions) and skin irritations (e.g. as a result of sunburn).
- For breastfeeding mothers, Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment is used for the prevention and treatment of sore nipples.
- In infant care, Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment is used for the prevention and treatment of soreness.
- Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment is used for the prevention and treatment of dry, cracked or brittle skin.

Bepanthen -Wund- und Heilsalbe must not be used
if you are allergic to dexpanthenol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment.
Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes.
Some of the other ingredients in Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment may cause a reduction in the safety of latex products such as condoms or diaphragms.
Use of Bepanthen - Wund- und Heilsalbe together with other medicinesInform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Bepanthen - Wund- und Heilsalbe may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
When used during breast-feeding to prevent and treat sore nipples, any ointment residues must be washed off before the next breast-feeding.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
Responsiveness when driving and operating tools or machinery is not affected.
Bepanthen - Wund- und Heilsalbe contains wool wax, cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol
The ingredients wool wax, cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol may cause localised skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis)
How should the medicine be taken?
How to use Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
For use on the skin.
Apply the ointment to the cleaned wound, damaged skin or mucous membrane once or several times a day.
For sore nipples: apply wound and healing ointment immediately after each breastfeeding.
In infant care: apply after each drying.
The duration of treatment depends on the type and course of the condition.
If you have any further questions on the use of the medicinal product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

How to store Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment?
Do not store at temperatures above 25°C.
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton/tube after "EXP:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
Shelf life after first opening of the tube: 3 months
Do not dispose of medicinal products in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Bepanthen - Wound and Healing Ointment contains
- The active ingredient is: dexpanthenol. 1 g ointment contains 50 mg (= 5 %) dexpanthenol.

- The other ingredients are: Protegin X, Adeps lanae (lanolin, wool wax) E 913, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, bleached wax, white vaseline, almond oil, paraffin oil and purified water.
This medicinal product is an opaque white, homogeneous ointment for external use. The packaging consists of a collapsible aluminium tube with a white polypropylene cap, pack sizes of 3.5g, 30g, 50g and 100g. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
