Oculotect Fluid - eye drops with the active ingredient povidone are used in cases of irritation of the eye caused by a lack of or insufficient tear production and relieve the discomfort of dry eyes.

Application

What is Oculotect Fluid and what is it used for?

Oculotect Fluid eye drops with the active ingredient povidone are used in cases of irritation of the eye caused by a lack of or insufficient tear production and relieve the discomfort of dry eyes.
If you wear contact lenses, follow the instructions in section 2 ,,Warnings and precautions" and ,,Oculotect Fluid contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative".

If you do not feel better or even worse after a few days, contact your doctor/eye specialist.

How is it applied?

What is Oculotect Fluid and what is it used for?

Oculotect Fluid - eye drops with the active ingredient povidone are used for irritation of the eye due to lack of or insufficient tear production and relieve the discomfort of dry eyes.
If contact lens wear applies to you, follow the instructions in section 2 "Warnings and precautions" and "Oculotect Fluid contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative".

If you do not feel better or even worse after a few days, contact your doctor/eyecare professional.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you be aware of before using Oculotect Fluid?
Oculotect Fluid - eye drops must not be used
if you are allergic to povidone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Oculotect Fluid.
If you have headache, eye pain, tearing or persistent redness of the eye
and/ or if the treated eye condition worsens or remains the same, hypersensitivity to Oculotect Fluid is not excluded. In this case, discontinue the therapy and consult a doctor/eye specialist.
Avoid contact with soft contact lenses. You must remove them before use and reinsert them no earlier than 15 minutes after use. The preservative benzalkonium chloride contained in Oculotect Fluid is known to cause discolouration of soft contact lenses.
Children and adolescents
Oculotect Fluid - eye drops are not recommended for children and adolescents as no data are available for this age group.
Use of Oculotect Fluid - Eye Drops with other medicinesInform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.
When using other eye drops (e.g. for the treatment of glaucoma), Oculotect Fluid - eye drops must always be instilled last and at an interval of at least 5 minutes.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Oculotect Fluid - eye drops may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
Oculotect Fluid - eye drops have no or negligible effect on driving and ability to operate machinery.
Temporarily, blurred vision may occur immediately after the application of Oculotect Fluid - eye drops. Wait before driving or operating machinery until your vision becomes clear again.

Oculotect Fluid contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative.
Benzalkonium chloride may cause irritation to the eye. Avoid contact with soft contact lenses. You must remove them before use and reinsert them no earlier than 15 minutes after use. Benzalkonium chloride has been known to discolour soft contact lenses.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to use Oculotect Fluid?

Always use Oculotect Fluid - eye drops exactly as described in this leaflet or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is 1 drop four times a day or more frequently, depending on the state of the complaint.
If a drop passes the eye, try again.
If you are using other eye drops or eye gels/ointments, leave at least 5 minutes between applications. Oculotect Fluid - eye drops should always be used last.
Type of application:
Intended for use on the eye only, for dropping into the conjunctival sac. Do not use the vial if the seal around the cap is not intact when it is first opened.
The solution remains sterile until the cap is opened for the first time.
The dropper must not come into contact with any surface, including the eye or the area around the eye, as the solution will become contaminated.
- Wash your hands thoroughly before using the medicine.
- To avoid infection, do not touch the eye or the area around the eye with the tip of the vial.
- Close the vial immediately after use.
Instructions for use:

1. Gently pull down the lid of the eye that needs treatment until a small
"Pocket" results.
2. Turn the vial upside down and squeeze it until 1 drop comes into the eyelid.
3. Leave the eyelid out and close and open the eye several times.
4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 on the other eye if it also needs treatment
needs.
Important note for contact lens wearers: see section "Warnings and
Precautions" and "Oculotect Fluid contains benzalkonium chloride as
Preservative".
The duration of treatment depends on the state of the complaint. If the complaints improve
not or if there is a deterioration within a few days, an (eye) doctor
to seek out. For long-term use, preservative-free eye products
be used.
Store the vial with the tip pointing downwards, this will cause the vial to form on the next
Application of light drops.
Once you have started treatment, you must not use the eye drops for more than 4 weeks after
use the first time it is opened. See also section 5 "How to store Oculotect Fluid".
If you have used a larger amount of Oculotect Fluid than you should
If more than 1 drop is accidentally dropped into the eye, the excess

Do not use twice the amount if you have forgotten to use it before

- The active substance is: povidone (K25). 1 ml solution contains 50 mg povidone (K25)
1 drop contains 1.5 mg povidone (K25) or corresponds to 30 µl (microlitres) of solution.

- The other ingredients are: Benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, boric acid, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, calcium chloride dihydrate, sodium lactate, 1 N sodium hydroxide solution for pH adjustment, water for injections
