Ambroxol hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges, loosens congested and tenaciously adhering secretions from the bronchial wall and makes it easier to cough them up.
Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges are used for the expectorant treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs. Plenty of fluid intake supports the expectorant effect.
What should you pay attention to before taking it?
What should you know before taking Mucosolvan?
Mucosolvan must not be taken,
- If you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6, .
- if you suffer from a rare inherited metabolic disorder leading to intolerance to any of the constituents of the medicinal product (see "Mucosolvan contains sorbitol and mannitol").
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Mucosolvan,
- If you suffer from severe kidney or liver dysfunction .
There have been reports of severe skin reactions associated with the use of ambroxol hydrochloride. If you develop a skin rash (including mucous membrane damage in the mouth, throat, nose, eyes and genital area), please stop using
Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges and seek medical advice immediately.
Taking Mucosolvan with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
No significant interactions are known.
In laboratory tests, the simultaneous administration of ambroxol hydrochloride, the active ingredient of Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges, and certain medicines for infections (the antibiotics amoxicillin, cefuroxime, doxycycline and erythromycin) leads to a higher antibiotic concentration in the bronchial mucus and sputum.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

The use of Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges during pregnancy, especially during the first 3 months, is not recommended.
Ambroxol hydrochloride passes into breast milk in animals. The intake of
Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges is therefore not recommended during breast-feeding.
Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
According to post-marketing data, there is no evidence of an effect on the ability to drive and use machinery. No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and operate machinery.
Mucosolvan contains sorbitol and mannitol.
Please take Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges only after consulting your doctor,
if you are known to suffer from a sugar intolerance.
Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges contain in the recommended maximum daily dose
(6 lozenges) up to 3.15 g sorbitol and up to 150 mg mannitol. Patients with congenital fructose intolerance (a rare metabolic disorder) should not take this medicine. Sorbitol and mannitol may have a mild laxative effect. Note for diabetics: Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges contain 922 mg of carbohydrates in 1 lozenge corresponding to 0.08 bread units (BE).
How should the medicine be taken?
How to take Mucosolvan?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
To take.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and
For the first 2-3 days of treatment 3 x daily 2 lozenges, adolescents over 12 years:
after that 3 x daily 1 lozenge.
In severe cases, the treatment regimen of 3 x daily 2 lozenges may be maintained after consultation with the doctor.Children from 6 to 12 years: 2-3 x daily 1 lozenge
Children under 6 years
Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges are not suitable for use in children under
6 years of age due to the high active substance content. For these patients, Mucosolvan is available in more suitable dosage forms.
Let Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges melt slowly in your mouth. You can take
Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges independently of meals.
Patients with impaired kidney and/or liver function
If you have severe renal impairment or severe hepatic impairment, you must consult your doctor before taking this medicine, as your doctor may reduce the dose accordingly or increase the interval between doses.
Duration of use
If your condition worsens or does not improve after 4-5 days, you should consult a doctor.
Note
The expectorant effect of Mucosolvan 15 mg - lozenges is supported by plenty of fluid intake.
If you have taken a larger amount of Mucosolvan than you should
Based on reports of accidental overdose and/or incorrect intake, the observed complaints are consistent with the known side effects at recommended dosage.
If you suspect an overdose with Mucosolvan 15 mg - Lozenges, call a doctor immediately.

If you forget to take Mucosolvan
Continue taking it at the next time. Do not take double the amount if you have forgotten to take it before.
If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
What are the possible side effects?
How to store Mucosolvan?
Do not store above 30 °C.
Store in the original pack to protect the contents from light.
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the outer carton and blister foil. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

Ambroxol hydrochloride. - The other ingredients are: Arabic gum, sorbitol, carion 83 (sorbitol, mannitol, hydrogenated oligosaccharides), peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, saccharin sodium, paraffin, purified water .
