The active ingredient in Tonsillol gargle solution, dequalinium chloride, is a quaternary ammonium compound with surface-active properties.

Application

What is Tonsillol Gargle Solution and what is it used for?

The active ingredient in Tonsillol Gargle Solution is dequalinium chloride, a quaternary ammonium compound with surface-active properties. Dequalinium chloride acts on many pathogens, but mainly on gram-positive bacteria by destroying their cell wall and inactivating the enzymes by attaching to the bacterial cell wall. The
effect is seen in a change in the permeability of the cell membranes of the germs. In higher concentrations, dequalinium chloride has a germicidal effect.

Tonsillol gargle solution is used
- for infectious diseases of the mouth and throat caused by pathogens sensitive to dequalinium chloride, such as gingivitis, inflammation of the oral mucosa, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis
- for purulent sore throat as an additional medicine (Pilsen).
- for purulent angina as an additional medication
- for oral thrush (fungal infection)

Tonsillol gargle solution can be used after tonsil operations and tooth extractions to promote healing without complications.
