Cough ACC Hexal akut contains the active substance acetylcysteine, which has mucolytic properties. Acetylcysteine acts specifically on those components of mucus that make it thick.
Cough ACC Hexal akut liquefies viscous lung and nasal secretions. This promotes their expectoration, reduces the irritation caused by coughing and facilitates breathing.
Acetylcysteine, the active ingredient in Cough ACC Hexal akut, is made up of the body's own substances acetate and cysteine.

Cough ACC Hexal akut is used to loosen mucus and facilitate its removal in acute and chronic respiratory diseases with viscous mucus and reduced mucus transport.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 4-5 days, consult your doctor.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What SHOULD YOU TAKE INTO ACUTE BeFORE TAKING CUGS ACC HEXAL?

Cough ACC Hexal acute must not be taken
- if you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6. other ingredients of this medicine mentioned in section 6
- if you have a stomach ulcer
- by young children under 2 years of age
Warnings and Precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Cough ACC Hexal akut.

Particular caution is advised
- if you suffer from constriction of the airways, e.g. bronchial asthma, as bronchial spasm may occur. Regular medical monitoring is required when administered to asthma patients.
- if your respiratory function is disturbed
- if you are prone to gastrointestinal bleeding (e. g. if you have a history of oesophageal or gastric ulcers)
- if you suffer from renal or hepatic insufficiency
- in patients with histamine intolerance, long-term therapy should be avoided in these patients as acetylcysteine affects histamine metabolism and can lead to intolerance symptoms (e.g. headaches, runny nose, itching). (e.g. headaches, runny nose, itching).

Very rarely, the occurrence of severe hypersensitivity reactions such as extensive skin rashes associated with itching, fever, chills, lymph node disorders, joint pain, skin peeling and changes in the blood count (Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell's syndrome) has been reported.The use of Cough ACC Hexal Acute has been reported in connection with the use of this medicine. If new skin or mucous membrane changes occur, treatment with Cough ACC Hexal Acute must be stopped and a doctor must be consulted immediately.

The use of Cough ACC Hexal acute, particularly at the beginning of treatment, may lead to an increased volume of liquefied bronchial mucus. If expectoration is insufficient, the airways must be mechanically suctioned if necessary.

The effervescent tablets should not be dissolved at the same time as other medicines.

Suitable for diabetics.

Taking Cough ACC Hexal akut with other medicines Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.

When ACC Hexal acute cough is used in combination with cough suppressants (antitussives), a mucus-induced blockage ("secretion build-up") of the airways may occur due to the reduced cough reflex. Therefore, be sure to consult your doctor before starting a combined treatment.

Acetylcysteine/nitroglycerine
The simultaneous administration of acetylcysteine and nitroglycerine may possibly lead to low blood pressure (hypotension), which may be indicated by the occurrence of headaches. If your doctor deems it necessary to treat you together with nitroglycerin, he or she will monitor you for a possible drop in blood pressure.

For safety reasons, antibiotics should be taken separately and spaced at least 2 hours apart.

Activated charcoal in high doses (as an antidote) may reduce the effectiveness of acetylcysteine. Changes in the determination of laboratory parameters
Acetylcysteine may influence the colorimetric determination of salicylates.

In urine tests, acetylcysteine can influence the results of determinations of ketone bodies.

Dissolution of acetylcysteine formulations together with other medicinal products is not recommended.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will decide on the use of Cough ACC Hexal akut during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Driving and ability to operate machines
Cough ACC Hexal acute is not known to have an effect on driving and ability to operate machines. As drowsiness may occur in isolated cases, caution is advised in road traffic and when operating machinery.

Cough ACC Hexal akut contains lactose and sodium
This medicinal product contains lactose, anhydrous. Please only take Cough ACC Hexal akut after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from a sugar intolerance.
This medicine contains 138.8 mg of sodium (the main component of table salt) per tablet. This corresponds to 6.9% of the maximum daily dietary sodium intake recommended for an adult.

How should the medicine be taken?

How TO TAKE CUGS ACC HEXAL AKUT?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor
or pharmacist if you are not sure.


Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the following dosage is recommended for ACC Hexal akut 600 mg - Effervescent Tablets:
Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age take 1 effervescent tablet daily (corresponding to 600 mg acetylcysteine).

This medicinal product should not be used in children and adolescents under 14 years of age due to the high content of the active substance. Other acetylcysteine-containing medicinal products with a lower active ingredient content are available for this age group.

Type of application:
For ingestion.
The effervescent tablet is taken after meals, dissolved in a glass of water. The ready-to-use solution is to be taken without delay.

Duration of use:
Do not take Cough ACC Hexal Acute for more than 4 - 5 days without medical advice.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Cough ACC Hexal Acute is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken a larger amount of Cough ACC Hexal Acute than you should
contact a doctor.
There is no known case of overdose to date.

  • Symptoms of poisoning:
    An overdose could lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Infants and young children may experience increased mucus secretion.

If you have forgotten to take Cough ACC Hexal akut
If you forget to take Cough ACC Hexal Acute or have taken too little, do not take twice the amount. Next time, continue taking the medicine as described in the dosage instructions.

Do not stop treatment without consulting your doctor.

Paper/Alu/PE bags: No special storage conditions are required for this medicinal product with regard to temperature.

Do not use this medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the carton or container after "EXP" or "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Cough ACC Hexal akut contains
- The active substance is acetylcysteine.
One effervescent tablet contains 600 mg acetylcysteine.

How Cough ACC Hexal akut looks like and contents of the pack
White, round effervescent tablets with a characteristic blackberry flavour smell and a notch. The notch is not for dividing the tablet.

PP tubes with PE stopper or alternatively paper/aluminium/PE bags of 10 and 20 pieces.

Not all pack sizes may be placed on the market.
