What should you pay attention to before taking it?
What SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE USING MAGNESIUM VERLA?/em>FILM TABLESCONSIDER?
Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets must not be used,
- if you are allergic to magnesium citrate, magnesium L-glutamate or any
of the other ingredients listed in section 6. other ingredients of this medicine mentioned in section 6
- if you have severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min) or lack of urine
.- if you suffer from a general lack of fluids
- if you are prone to the formation of certain stones (infection stones) in the urinary tract, which can occur during urinary tract infections.(calcium magnesium ammonium phosphate stones, struvite stones).
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets. If you suffer from impaired kidney function, Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets should only be taken after consulting your doctor.Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets should only be used with particular caution and under medical supervision in cases of mild and moderate kidney impairment. There may be an accumulation of magnesium in the body.
If diarrhoea occurs, the dose should be reduced or Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets temporarily discontinued.
Taking Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tabletstogether with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or intend to take any other medicines.
Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets should be taken about 3 - 4 hours apart from certain antibiotics (tetracyclines), iron or certain medicines for osteoporosis (sodium fluoride preparations) to avoid mutual interference with absorption into the blood.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets may be taken during pregnancy or when breast-feeding.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets at the recommended dose have no effect on the ability to drive or operate machinery.
How should the medicine be taken?
HOW TO USE MAGNESIUM VERLA FILM TABLETS?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet
or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults and young people over 14 years:
3 times daily 1-2 film-coated tablets
Children 10-14 years:
2-3 times daily. 1 film-coated tablet
Children aged 6-9 years:
1-2 times daily 1 film-coated tablet
Children under 6 years:
No adequate experience is available on the use of Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets in children under 6 years of age. Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets should therefore not be used in children under 6 years of age.
Patients with impaired renal function:
Cautious dosing is required in patients with mild and moderate renal impairment (see section 2).
In patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min), Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets must not be used (see section 2).
Type and duration of use
The film-coated tablets should be taken unchewed with a little water.
Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets should be taken before meals, as this improves the absorption of magnesium into the bloodstream.
It is recommended to take the tablets for 4 weeks. Continuous therapy (over years) is also harmless with normal kidney function, as excess magnesium is excreted via the kidneys.
If you have used a larger amount of Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets. than you should,
you may experience an increase in side effects (diarrhoea).
Other complaints such as severe symptoms of tiredness are only to be expected in the case of prolonged overdose and primarily in patients with renal dysfunction. In the case of severe renal dysfunction with excretion inhibition, magnesium may accumulate in the body and lead to symptoms of poisoning (drop in blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, impairment of the central nervous system, reduction of reflexes, ECG changes, onset of respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest, respiratory paralysis). If you forget to take Magnesium Verla Film-Coated Tablets,
continue using the medicine as usual. Do not use twice the amount if you have forgotten to use it before.

What are the possible side effects?

Store this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not store above 30°C. Keep away from moisture.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

1 film-coated tablet contains trimagnesium dicitrate nonahydrate 436.8 mg and magnesium L-glutamate tetrahydrate 165.4 mg corresponding to 60 mg (= 2.5 mmol) of magnesium
- The other ingredients are:
potato starch, glycerol, polyvidone, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate, eudragite, talcum, titanium dioxide (E 171), hypromellose, silicone defoamer
