What should you be aware of before using ABC Heat Cream?
ABC Heat Cream must not be used
- if you are allergic to cayenne pepper, capsaicinoids of other origin (e.g. capsicum).methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E216) or any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product listed in section 6.
- on damaged skin, wounds and eczema.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using ABC Heat Cream:
- in more severe cases where accompanying symptoms such as redness, swelling or overheating of joints occur.joint pain,
- continuous joint pain or
- severe back pain associated with nerve pain (e.g. numbness or pain in the back).Please also note the following:
- Do not apply the cream near the eyes, mouth, tongue or lips.
- It is recommended not to scratch in the area of application in order to avoid skin injuries (see also: ABC Heat Cream must not be used).
- Avoid additional heat during treatment (e.g. by sun/infrared radiation, heating pad or warm water). The warming effect may be increased by
ABC Local Pain Therapy Warming Cream 750 microgram/g cream (AT) January 2017 physical activity (sweating). Discontinue use if the warming effect is felt to be too strong. In this case, excess cream residues can be removed with cold water or a skin cream.
- A large-area application should be avoided.
- It should be noted that the heating effect can only occur some time after application of the cream.
Children and adolescents
ABC Heat Cream is not recommended for the treatment of children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as there is insufficient experience for this age group.
Use of ABC Heat Cream with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or are planning to take/use any other medicines.
The cream should not be used at the same time as other medicines [e.g. other heat products (which stimulate blood circulation and thus cause redness of the skin) or pain-relieving gels] in the same place.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.
The active substance in the cream (capsaicin) may pass into breast milk. During breast-feeding, ABC Heat Cream must not be applied to the breast area.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
There is no reason to believe that the use of ABC Heat Cream will affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
ABC Heat Cream contains propylene glycol and cetylstearyl alcohol
This medicinal product contains propylene glycol and cetylstearyl alcohol. Prophylene glycol may cause skin irritation. Cetylstearyl alcohol may cause localised skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis)
How should the medicine be taken?
How should ABC Heat Cream be used?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage
Apply ABC Warmth Cream three times a day sparingly to the painful area of the spine (1 - 2 g cream per application, 1 g corresponds to a strand of approx. 4.2 cm) and rub the cream in well.
Type of application
For external use only! Do not ingest!
After each application, hands should be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water.
Treatment duration
Treatment should be continued until pain relief, up to 3 weeks if necessary. If symptoms persist, please consult a doctor.
If you have used a larger amount of ABC Heat Cream than you should
No cases of overdose are known. It is to be expected that the side effects listed in section 4. occur in increased form as signs of overdose. In

The medicine or the empty tube can be disposed of in household waste.
Wash hands with soap and water after contact with the cream. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, tongue or lips.
You must not use this medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the tube fold and the folding box after Usable until . The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
Do not store above 25ºC
Use within 6 months after opening the tube.

What ABC Heat Cream contains
- The active ingredient is capsaicin. 100 g cream contains 75 mg capsaicin. 1 g cream contains
750 micrograms capsaicin.
- The other ingredients are:
Methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E216), macrogrolcetyl stearyl ether, cetylstearyl alcohol, isopropyl myristate, viscous paraffin, propylene glycol, sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, purified water, sodium hydroxide.
What ABC Heat Cream looks like and contents of the pack
ABC Heat Cream is a white, soft cream. It is available in tubes of 20 g, 50 g or 100 g cream.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
