Iberogast is a herbal medicinal product with antispasmodic and motility-regulating effects on the gastrointestinal tract.
Iberogast is used for the treatment of functional and motility-related gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable stomach syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome (with symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, gastrointestinal cramps, stomach pain, nausea, heartburn) and for supportive symptomatic treatment of gastritis.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, consult your doctor.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you be aware of before taking Iberogast?

Iberogast must not be taken
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to bitter clover, angelica root, camomile flowers, caraway, milk thistle fruit, lemon balm leaves, peppermint leaves, peppermint leaves, peppermint leaves, caraway leaves, milk thistlecaraway, milk thistle, lemon balm, peppermint leaves, celandine, liquorice root or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Iberogast.
Iberogast should only be taken after consulting your doctor if you have or have had liver disease in the past or if you are being treated with medicines that have liver-damaging properties.

If symptoms of liver damage occur, such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or discoloured stools, stop treatment immediately and consult a doctor.

Children from 3 to 5 years
If children between 3 and 5 years of age experience abdominal pain, always consult a doctor.

Children under 3 years
Iberogast must not be used in children under 3 years of age.

Take Iberogast with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using any other medicines, have recently taken/used any other medicines or are thinking of taking/using any other medicines.

There are no known interactions.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

As a precaution, the use of Iberogast should be avoided during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

The alcohol content must be taken into account

Driving and ability to operate machinery,
No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and operate machinery.

Iberogast contains ethanol (alcohol)
This medicinal product contains 31% ethanol (alcohol) by volume.% ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 240 mg per maximum single dose of 20 drops, corresponding to 6.2 ml beer or 2.6 ml wine. There is a health risk for patients suffering from alcoholism.
Should be considered in pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as in children and patients at increased risk due to liver disease or epilepsy.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to take Iberogast?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:
3 times daily 20 drops

Children from 6 to 11 years:
3 times daily 15 drops

Children 3 to 5 years:
3 times daily 10 drops
Use in this age group only after consultation with a doctor (see section 2).

Children under 3 years of age:
Iberogast must not be used in children under 3 years of age (see section 2).

Type of application:
To be taken.
Unless otherwise prescribed, Iberogast is taken 3 times daily before or with meals in a little liquid
Shake before use!

Duration of use:
The duration of use depends on the type, severity and course of the disease.If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.

If you have taken a larger amount of Iberogast than you should

No cases of overdose are known.

If you forget to take Iberogast

Do not take twice the amount if you have forgotten to take it before.

If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

What are the possible side effects?

How should Iberogast be stored?

Do not store above 25 °C.

Do not store in the refrigerator or freeze.

Store the bottle in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

After opening the container, Iberogast can be kept for 8 weeks.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

15 ml liquid extract of fresh bitter loop flower (Iberidis amarae herba et radix recens), DEV 1 : 1.5-2.5, extractant: ethanol 50% V/V
10 ml liquid extract of angelica root (Angelicae radix), DEV 1 : 2.5-3.5, extract: ethanol 30% V/V
20 ml liquid extract of camomile flowers (Matricariae flos), DEV 1 : 2-4, extract: ethanol 30% V/V
10 ml liquid extract of caraway (Carvi fructus), DEV 1 : 2.5-3.5, extractant ethanol 30% v/v
10 ml liquid extract of milk thistle fruit (Silybi mariani fructus), DEV 1 : 2.5-3.5, extractant ethanol 30% v/v
10 ml liquid extract of lemon balm leaf (Melissae folium), DEV 1 : 2.5-3.5, extractant ethanol 30% v/v
5 ml liquid extract of peppermint leaves (Menthae piperitae folium), DEV 1 : 2.5-3.5, extractant ethanol 30% V/V

The other ingredients are: Ethanol 96%, purified water.

Total ethanol content 31 % (V/V)

1 ml corresponds to 20 drops.

How Iberogast looks and contents of the pack

Iberogast is a dark brown, clear to slightly cloudy liquid (oral drops).

If Iberogast shows flocculation or turbidity, this does not affect the quality of the preparation.

Iberogast is available in packs (amber glass bottle with dropper insert and screw cap) of 20 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
