Levocetirizine Genericon is a so-called antihistamine, a medicine used to treat allergies and their effects.

Levocetirizine Genericon is used in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over for the treatment of

  • allergic rhinitis (including persistent [persistent] allergic rhinitis)
  • .
  • Hives (urticaria).
If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 days, consult your doctor.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you know before taking Levocetirizine Genericon?

Levocetirizine Genericon must not be taken

.
  • If you are allergic to levocetirizine dihydrochloride, cetirizine, hydroxyzine, other
    piperazine derivatives or any of the other ingredients of this
    medicinal product mentioned in section 6.
  • If your kidney function is severely impaired (severe renal insufficiency with a creatinine clearance below 10 ml/min).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Levocetirizine Genericon.

If you may not be able to empty your bladder completely (such as with a spinal cord injury or an enlarged prostate), please ask your doctor for advice.

If you have epilepsy or are at risk of seizures, please consult your doctor.

If you are planning to have an allergy test, ask your doctor if you need the
Stop using Levocetirizine Genericon for several days. This medicine may affect the result of your allergy test.

Do not take Levocetirizine Genericon until you have consulted your doctor if you have impaired kidney and/or liver function.

Children
The use of Levocetirizine Genericon is not recommended for children under 6 years of age, as no dose adjustment is possible with the film-coated tablets.

Taking Levocetirizine Genericon with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Taking Levocetirizine Genericon with food, drink and diet. Alcohol
Caution is advised when Levocetirizine Genericon is taken with alcohol or other agents that affect the brain.
In sensitive patients, the simultaneous administration of Levocetirizine Genericon and alcohol or other agents acting on the brain could lead to an additional decrease in alertness and reduced performance.

Levocetirizine Genericon can be taken with or without meals.

Pregnancy, lactation and reproductive capacity
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Driving ability and ability to operate machines
This medicine may impair the ability to react and drive.

Some patients may experience drowsiness/drowsiness, tiredness and fatigue during therapy with Levocetirizine Genericon. Be careful when driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you. However, in special studies, no impairment of attention, reaction and driving ability of healthy test subjects was found by taking levocetirizine in the recommended dosage.

How should the medicine be taken?

How should Levocetirizine Genericon be taken?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The usual dosage for adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age is 1 film-coated tablet daily.

Special dosing instructions for special patient groups:
Patients with kidney and liver disorders


Take Levocetirizine Genericon only after consulting your doctor if you have impaired kidney and/or liver function.

Patients with impaired kidney function may receive a lower dose depending on the severity of the kidney disease and, in the case of children, also on their body weight. The dose is determined by your doctor.

Patients with severely impaired kidney function must not take Levocetirizine Genericon.
For patients with impaired liver function only, taking the normal dose is recommended.
Patients with simultaneously impaired liver and kidney function may receive a lower dose depending on the severity of the kidney disease and, in the case of children, also on their body weight. The dose is determined by your doctor.

Older patients aged 65 years and over
Provided renal function is normal, no dose adjustment is required in elderly patients.

Use in children
The use of Levocetirizine Genericon Film-Coated Tablets is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.

How and when should you take Levocetirizine Genericon?
For ingestion.
Take Levocetirizine Genericon unchewed with liquid. It can be taken with or independently of meals.

How long should you take Levocetirizine Genericon?
The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of your complaints.
See a doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen after 3 days.

If you have taken a larger amount of Levocetirizine Genericon than you should If you have taken a larger amount of Levocetirizine Genericon than you should, drowsiness may occur in adults. In children, agitation and restlessness may occur first, followed by drowsiness.

If you suspect you have taken an overdose of Levocetirizine Genericon, please tell your doctor. The latter will decide on any measures that may be necessary.

If you forget to take Levocetirizine Genericon
Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten to take it before. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you notice. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose and take the next dose at the usual time.

If you stop taking Levocetirizine Genericon
Stopping should not cause any harmful effects.
Nevertheless, in rare cases, pruritus (severe itching) may occur after discontinuation of use, even if these symptoms were not present before treatment. The symptoms may disappear spontaneously. In some cases, the symptoms may be very intense and require a resumption of treatment. After resuming treatment, the symptoms should disappear.

How to store Levocetirizine Genericon?

Store in the original packaging to protect the contents from moisture.

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the blister strip and the outer carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Levocetirizine Genericon contains
The active substance is: levocetirizine dihydrochloride.
Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride, corresponding to 4.2 mg levocetirizine.

The other ingredients are:
microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol 400

What Levocetirizine Genericon looks like and contents of the pack<./strong>
The film-coated tablets are white to almost white, oval, biconvex and have the imprints "L9CZ" on one side and "5" on the other.

Levocetirizine Genericon is packed in blister packs of 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 14, 15, 20, 21, 28, 30, 40, 50, 56, 60, 70, 90, 100, 112 and 120 film-coated tablets per pack.

Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
