Optiderm cream is a medicinal product for the supportive treatment of skin diseases with itching and skin dryness.
Optiderm cream is used for
moisture regulation of the horny layer
greasing and itch relief as a supportive treatment for skin diseases with dry and/or itchy skin, such as atopic eczema (neurodermatitis).atopic eczema (neurodermatitis) or in the case of damage to the skin due to dehydration, caused e.g. by washing-up liquids and detergents (exsiccation eczema)
for further and follow-up treatment of the aforementioned skin diseases.

Optiderm cream is used for

• Moisture regulation of the stratum corneum
.
• For greasing and itch relief as a supportive treatment for
  skin diseases with dry and/or itchy skin such as atopic eczema (neurodermatitis) or when the skin is damaged by dehydration, caused e.g. by washing-up liquids and detergents (exsiccation eczema)
.
• for further and follow-up treatment of the above-mentioned skin diseases.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you be aware of before using Optiderm cream?
Optiderm cream must not be used,

.

• If you are allergic to urea, polidocanol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
.
• If your skin is red and scaly all over your body (erythroderma).
• if your skin is inflamed, oozing and you have a skin infection.

Warnings and precautions.
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Optiderm cream.

• Do not bring Optiderm cream into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes
.
• When applied to inflamed or injured skin areas
  Skin irritation (e.g. reddening of the skin, burning) is possible (see also point 4 "What side-effects are possible?").
• If you suffer from a pronounced kidney dysfunction, Optiderm cream should not be used on large areas.

Children
Reports from the specialist literature indicate that the use of urea-containing products in children can lead to a burning sensation on the skin, usually for a short time.
Please consult your doctor before using Optiderm cream on children.

If the symptoms persist or if the expected success from the application does not occur, a medical consultation is required as soon as possible.

Use Optiderm cream with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Do not apply any other topical medicines or cosmetics to the same areas of skin during treatment with Optiderm cream, as the
absorption of other active substances (e.g. corticoids, dithranol, 5-fluorouracil) may be increased.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking or using any medicine.
Risks associated with the use of Optiderm cream during pregnancy and breastfeeding are not known. However, Optiderm cream should not be used on the breast area during breastfeeding.

Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
No special precautions are necessary.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to use Optiderm cream?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
For use on the skin.
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, apply Optiderm cream evenly thinly to the skin twice daily.
The duration of treatment depends on the improvement that has occurred and is generally 3 weeks.
If the skin dryness persists, the treatment may be continued for a longer period after consulting a doctor.
If you have any further questions on the use of the medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

What are the possible side effects?

How to store Optiderm cream?

Do not store above 25°C.

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and outer carton after "Use by:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

Do not use Optiderm cream for more than 6 months after opening the tube.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Optiderm cream contains

The active ingredients are: Urea and Polidocanol.
100 g cream contains 5 g urea and 3 g polidocanol
The other ingredients are:
benzyl alcohol (as preservative), dimethicone, polymethylphenylsiloxane, paraffin, cetyl palmitate, stearic palmitic acid, 2-octyl-1-dodecanol, polysorbate, carbomer, glycerol, trometamol, purified water.
