What is Strepsils Orange Sugar Free and what is it used for?
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free contains flurbiprofen. Flurbiprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free is used for the short-term relief of symptoms of sore throat such as inflammation of the throat lining, pain and swelling, and difficulty swallowing in adults and children aged 12 years and over.
Contact a doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days.

What is Strepsils Orange Sugar Free and what is it used for?
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free contains flurbiprofen. Flurbiprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free is used for a short time to relieve symptoms of sore throat such as inflammation of the throat lining, pain and swelling, and difficulty swallowing in adults and children aged 12 years and over.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?
What you should be aware of before using Strepsils Orange Sugar Free?
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free must not be used if you
- are allergic to flurbiprofen or any of the other ingredients listed in section 6. are allergic to flurbiprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
- have ever had asthma, unexpected wheezing or shortness of breath, an irritated nose, swelling of the face or an itchy rash (hives) after taking acetylsalicylic acid or any other NSAID.
- have or have had two or more occurrences of stomach ulcers, intestinal ulcers or bleeding in the stomach/intestinal area.
- have suffered from bleeding or breakthroughs in the gastrointestinal tract, severe colitis or blood disorders after taking NSAIDs.
- use acetylsalicylic acid in high doses or other NSAIDs (such as celecoxib, ibuprofen, diclofenac sodium etc.).
- Are in the last three months of pregnancy.
- Have or have had heart, severe kidney or severe liver weakness.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Strepsils Orange Sugar Free if you
- have ever had asthma or suffer from allergies.
- have inflamed tonsils (tonsillitis) or think they have a bacterial throat infection (because they may need antibiotics) .
- Have heart, kidney or liver problems .
- have had a stroke .
- have a history of bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease) .
- Suffer from a chronic autoimmune disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or mixed connective tissue disease .
- are older, as you are more likely to experience side effects that are listed in this leaflet.
- During the first 6 months of pregnancy or while breastfeeding .
- Stop using the lozenges at the first signs of skin reactions (rash, peeling of the skin, blistering) or other signs of an allergic reaction and seek medical attention immediately.
- Inform your doctor if you have any unusual symptoms in your abdomen (especially bleeding).
- Talk to a doctor if you do not feel better, if you get worse or if new symptoms occur.
- The use of medicines such as Strepsils Orange Sugar Free, may be associated with a slightly increased risk of heart attack (myocardial infarction) or stroke. Any risk is more likely with high doses and longer treatment. Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment (see section 3).
This medicine should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
Use of Strepsils Orange Sugar Free with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
- Acetylsalicylic acid in low dosage (up to 75 mg daily) .
- Medicines against high blood pressure or heart failure (antihypertensives, cardiac glycosides) .
- Dewatering tablets (diuretics including potassium-saving medicines)
- Blood-thinning medicines (anticoagulants, thrombocyte agregation inhibitors) .
- Drugs for gout (probenecid, sulfinpyrazone)
- Other NSAIDs or corticosteroids (such as celecoxib, ibuprofen, diclofenac sodium or prednisolone) .
- Mifepristone (a medicine used to terminate pregnancy) .
- Quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin)
- Cyclosporine or Tacrolimus (for suppressing the immune system)
- Phenytoin (for the treatment of epilepsy)
- Methotrexate (for the treatment of cancer)
- Lithium or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (for the treatment of depression) .
- Oral antidiabetics (for the treatment of diabetes)
- Zidovudine (for the treatment of HIV)
Do not drink alcohol during treatment with Strepsils Orange Sugar Free as this may increase the risk of stomach or intestinal bleeding.
Pregnancy, lactation and procreation/parturition.
Do not use this medicine not on when you are in are in the last 3 months of pregnancy. If you are in the first 6 months of pregnancy or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free belongs to a group of medicines that can affect women's fertility. The effect is reversible after discontinuation of the medicinal product. It is unlikely that occasional use of this medicine will affect the possibility of becoming pregnant. However, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have problems getting pregnant.
Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
There are no studies on the effect on the ability to drive and operate machinery. However, dizziness and visual disturbances are possible side effects after taking NSAIDs. Do not drive or operate machinery if you are affected.
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free contains isomalt and maltitol solution.
Please take this medicine only after consulting your doctor if you are known to have a sugar intolerance.
1 lozenge contains 2034 mg isomalt (E953) and 508.5 mg maltitol solution (E965), corresponding to approx. 0.21 bread units (BE). If you have to follow a diabetes diet, you should take this into account.
Please also bear in mind that maltitol and isomalt have a caloric value of 2.3 kcal/g and can have a slightly laxative effect after several doses per day.
How should the medicine be taken?
How to use Strepsils Orange Sugar Free?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Recommended dosage: For adults and children from 12 years.
- Take 1 lozenge and let it slowly dissolve in your mouth.
- Move the lozenge around in your mouth while sucking.
- The lozenge should start to work within 30 minutes.
- Then, if necessary, take 1 lozenge every 3 to 6 hours.
- Do not take more than 5 lozenges within 24 hours .
These lozenges are intended for short-term use only.
Use as few lozenges as possible over as short a period as is necessary to relieve your symptoms. If irritation occurs in the mouth, treatment with flurbiprofen should be discontinued.
Do not use Strepsils Orange Sugar Free for more than 3 days unless your doctor has prescribed it. If you do not feel better or even worse, or if new symptoms occur, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you have used a larger amount of Strepsils Orange Sugar Free than you should should
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist or go to the nearest hospital immediately. Complaints of overdose may include nausea or vomiting,
Stomach pain or, rarely, diarrhoea. A ringing in the ears,. Headaches and gastrointestinal bleeding are also possible.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to use Strepsils Orange sugar-free.
Do not apply a double dose if you have forgotten the previous application.

- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children .
- You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after "EXP: or EXP:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

The other ingredients are: Macrogol 300, potassium hydroxide (E 515), orange flavouring, levomenthol, acesulfame potassium (E 950), maltitol solution (E 965) and isomalt (E 953).
What Strepsils Orange Sugar Free looks like and contents of the pack
Round, white to pale yellow lozenges with an imprint on both sides.
Strepsils Orange Sugar Free is available in blister packs of 8, 16 and 24.
