Kaloba is a herbal medicinal product made from the pelargonium root (Pelargonii radix) (Capeland geranium) for the symptomatic treatment of acute bronchial infections with cough and mucus production.

Kaloba is a herbal medicinal product made from Pelargonium root (Pelargonii radix) (Capeland Pelargonium) for the symptomatic treatment of acute bronchial infections with cough and mucus production.

This medicine is used in adults, adolescents and children over 1 year of age.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What you should be aware of before taking Kaloba?

Kaloba must not be taken,
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to pelargonium or any of the other ingredients listed in section 6.
- if you have severe liver disease.

Warnings and Precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Kaloba - Syrup.

If you experience fever, shortness of breath or bloody sputum, or if you notice signs of liver dysfunction (e.g. yellowing of the white skin of the eyes or skin), you must consult a doctor.

Children
Treatment of children under 6 years of age should only be carried out after consultation with a doctor.
Use in children under 1 year of age is not recommended due to lack of data.
Take Kaloba with other medicines

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.

There are no known interactions.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist
for advice before taking this medicine.

To date, there is no or very limited experience (less than 300 pregnancy outcomes) with the use of this medicinal product in pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

For precautionary reasons, the use of Kaloba during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be avoided.

Trafficability and ability to operate machinery
No studies have been conducted on the effects on trafficability and ability to operate machinery.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to take Kaloba?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 7.5 ml syrup 3 times a day

Children
Children aged 6 - 11 years: 5 ml syrup 3 times daily
Children aged 1 - 5 years: 2.5 ml syrup 3 times daily

Treatment of children under 6 years of age should only be given after consultation with
a doctor.
Use in children under 1 year of age is not recommended due to lack of data.

Method of use
For oral use.
Take the syrup in the morning, at noon and in the evening.

A measuring cup is included for dosing Kaloba syrup.
The measuring cup has markings. Please open the bottle and slowly fill the measuring cup to the required amount in millilitres (ml).
Clean the measuring cup under running water after each use and dry it afterwards.

Duration of use
If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, consult your doctor.

The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks.
It is recommended to continue treatment for several days after symptoms have subsided to avoid relapse.

Use in children
Use in children under 1 year of age is not recommended due to lack of data.

If you have taken a larger amount of Kaloba than you should
No cases of overdose are known.

If you forget to take Kaloba
Do not take twice the amount if you have forgotten to take it before.

If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

What are the possible side effects?

How to store Kaloba?

No special storage conditions are required for the unopened medicinal product.

Storage instructions after first opening: Do not store above 25°C.

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and outer carton after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated.

Once the container has been opened, do not use the packs for longer than 6 months.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Kaloba contains
The active ingredient is:
Dry extract of Pelargonium root (Pelargonii radix) (drug extract ratio (DEV) 4 - 25 : 1) (EPs® 7630). The extraction agent is 11% ethanol (m/m).
100 g (=93.985 ml) syrup contains 0.2506 g dry extract of Pelargonium root (Pelargonii radix).The other ingredients are:
Maltodextrin, xylitol, glycerol 85%, citric acid anhydrous, potassium sorbate (Ph. Eur.), xanthan gum, purified water.

What Kaloba looks like and contents of the pack
Kaloba is an orange to light brown, thick syrup in packs of 100 ml or 200 ml. Not all pack sizes may be placed on the market.
