Hoggar Night is a sleeping pill (sedative/antihistamine).
Hoggar Night is applied
- For symptomatic short-term treatment of occasional
sleep disorders in adults.
Not all sleep disorders require drug therapy. Often they are an expression of physical or mental illness and can be influenced by other measures or therapy of the underlying disease. For this reason, long-term treatment with Hoggar Night should not be carried out in the case of prolonged sleep disturbances, but the treating doctor should be consulted.
If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, consult your doctor.
What should you pay attention to before taking it?
What should you know before taking Hoggar Night?
Hoggar Night must NOT be ingested
- If you are allergic to doxylamine, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6 .
- in acute asthma attacks,
- for glaucoma (narrow-angle glaucoma),
- for adrenal tumour (pheochromocytoma),
- In case of enlargement of the prostate gland (prostatic hypertrophy) with
residual urine formation, - In cases of acute intoxication by alcohol, or overdose of sleeping pills or painkillers or psychotropic drugs (neuroleptics, tranquillisers, antidepressants, lithium), .
- for seizures (epilepsy),
- In simultaneous treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors .
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Hoggar Night,
- with impaired liver or kidney function,
- in case of pre-damage of the heart and/or high blood pressure,
- for chronic respiratory problems or asthma,
- In case of insufficient closure of the stomach inlet with reflux of food into the oesophagus (gastro-oesophageal reflux).
Ensure a sufficiently long sleep duration (at least 8 hours) . of taking Hoggar Night safely to prevent impairment of Avoiding a reaction the following morning.
Children and adolescents
Children and adolescents must not be treated with Hoggar Night because the safety and efficacy of doxylamine for the treatment of nocturnal insomnia in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been established.
Taking Hoggar Night with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
The effects of Hoggar Night and Hoggar Night can be mutually reinforcing.
- centrally acting medicines (such as psychotropic drugs, sleeping pills, painkillers, anaesthetics, drugs against seizures - epilepsy), .
- Other drugs with anticholinergic effect (e.g. biperiden in
Parkinson's disease, tricyclic antidepressants and
monoamine oxidase inhibitors for the treatment of depressive disorders), with the consequence of e.g. life-threatening intestinal paralysis, urinary retention, acute
increase in intraocular pressure.
- Phenytoin (against seizures such as epilepsy),
- Neuroleptics (against mental illness).
- and medicines for high blood pressure (antihypertensives) which act on the central nervous system (e.g. guanabenz, clonidine, alpha-methyldopa) may cause increased tiredness and faintness.
- Signs of incipient inner ear damage caused by other medicines (e.g. aminoglycoside antibiotics, some painkillers, some diuretics) may be attenuated.
- the results of skin tests can be falsified (false negatives).
- Do not use epinephrine (vasodilatation, drop in blood pressure,
accelerated heart rate may occur) .
- and monoamine oxidase inhibitors may cause a drop in blood pressure and increased impairment of central nervous system and respiratory function. Therefore, simultaneous therapy with both substances should be avoided.
Alcohol may alter the effect of doxylamine in an unpredictable way. Avoid drinking alcohol while using Hoggar Night.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Hoggar Night should not be taken during pregnancy unless specifically advised by a doctor. As the active substance passes into breast milk, do not breastfeed during the use of Hoggar Night.
Driving ability and ability to operate machines
Caution: This medicinal product may impair the ability to react and drive.
Even when used as intended, this medicinal product may alter the ability to react to such an extent that the ability to actively participate in road traffic or to operate machinery is impaired. This is especially true in combination with alcohol. They can then no longer react quickly and purposefully enough to unexpected and sudden events. Do not drive a car or other vehicles, operate electrical tools or machines and do not work without a safe footing!
Hoggar Night contains glucose
Please take Hoggar Night only after consulting your doctor if you are known to have a sugar intolerance.
Hoggar Night contains sodium.
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per meltable tablet, i.e. it is almost "sodium-free".
How should the medicine be taken?
How to take Hoggar Night?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage
The recommended dose is 1 melting tablet (corresponding to 25 mg doxylamine hydrogen succinate).
For more severe sleep disorders, 2 melting tablets (corresponding to 50 mg doxylamine hydrogen succinate) can be taken as the maximum dose.
Take Hoggar Night about ½ to 1 hour before bedtime.
Type of use
Hoggar Night is for oral use. Place the melting tablet on the tongue. The melting tablet disintegrates immediately on the tongue and can be swallowed. Additional fluid intake is not necessary.
Duration of use
In acute sleep disorders, the treatment should be limited to single doses if possible.
The duration of the application must be as short as possible. In general, the duration of treatment can be from a few days to a week.
The treatment must be stopped after 2 weeks of daily intake at the latest.
Use in special patient groups
A lower dose should be used in patients with impaired liver or kidney function, elderly or debilitated patients who are more sensitive to the effects of doxylamine.
For dosages that are not feasible with this medicine, other medicines may be available.
If you have taken a larger amount of Hoggar Night than you should
.An overdose may initially cause symptoms such as restlessness, increased muscle reflexes, unconsciousness, depression of breathing and cardiovascular arrest. Other signs of an overdose are pupil dilation, accelerated heart activity (tachycardia), fever, hot, red skin and dry mucous membranes. If these symptoms occur, call a doctor immediately.
In addition, the occurrence of rhabdomyolysis (disintegration of muscle fibres) has been observed after overdose.
Your doctor will decide what to do.

Do not store above 30º C. Store in the original packaging to protect the contents from moisture.
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after "EXP" or "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
Do not dispose of medicines in waste water. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

The active substance is: Doxylamine hydrogen succinate
1 melting tablet contains 25 mg doxylamine hydrogen succinate.
The other ingredients are:
Mannitol (E 421) , maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, Betadex (E 459), sodium stearyl fumarate, crospovidone (type B), highly dispersed silicon dioxide, sucralose, strawberry flavour, rhubarb vanilla flavour (contains glucose).
What Hoggar Night looks like and contents of the pack
White, round, biconcave, melting tablet.
Hoggar Night is available in packs of 10, 20 and 30 melting tablets.
Not all pack sizes may be placed on the market.
