At the first sign of side effects, please talk to your doctor.

If the symptoms persist or if the expected effect of the application does not occur within one week, medical advice is required as soon as possible.

If you react to medicines that have a stimulating effect on the nervous system (sympathomimetics) with signs of insomnia, dizziness, trembling, etc., you should use Otrivin, like all preparations of the same class of active substance, only with caution.

For rhinitis with crust formation, Otrivin 0.1 % - Nasal Gel is preferable.

Prolonged use, misuse of the medicinal product and overdosage of nasal decongestants may (even after discontinuation) lead to:
- swelling of the nasal mucosa due to medication, a so-called rhinitis medicamentosa (which is very similar in its symptoms to a cold),
- drying of the nasal mucosa (rhinitis sicca),
- swelling of the nasal mucosa as a counter-reaction after discontinuation or
- reduction of the effectiveness of the medication.
- decrease in effectiveness
.

These reactions can in turn make nasal breathing difficult and lead to incorrect continuous use of the medicine.

Otrivin is not intended for use in the eyes or mouth.

Do not exceed the recommended dose, especially for young people and the elderly.

Use of Otrivin Menthol 0.1% - Nasal Spray with other medicines Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.

The effect of medicines taken at the same time which have a stimulating effect on the nervous system (sympathomimetics) may be increased, while those with the opposite effect may be weakened.

The effect of Otrivin on the whole organism can be increased by certain mood-lifting medicines (MAO inhibitors also within the last 14 days, tri- or tetracyclic antidepressants), especially in the case of overdose.

If beta-blockers are taken at the same time, the amount of Otrivin should be kept as low as possible, as in very rare cases temporary shortness of breath due to constriction of the lower airways and an increase in blood pressure may occur.

Therefore, tell your doctor or pharmacist which medicines you are taking/using at the same time as using Otrivin.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

As a precautionary measure, Otrivin should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding because of its vasoconstrictive properties.

Otrivin has no or negligible effect on the ability to drive and operate machines.
