Molaxole helps you to have comfortable bowel movements, even if you have already suffered from constipation for a long period of time. Molaxole can also be used, after consultation with your doctor, in cases of stubborn constipation with
stagnation of faeces in the intestine, called "coprostasis".

Macrogol 3350 increases the volume of faeces by binding water and thus leads to
a normalisation of the movement processes of the colon. This results in increased transit of the softened stool and easier defecation. The salts in Molaxole help maintain the body's salt and water balance.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you be aware of before taking Molaxole?

Molaxole must not be taken
- if you are allergic to macrogol, table salt, potassium chloride or sodium hydrogen carbonate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
- if you have a narrowing or obstruction of the bowel, a perforation of the bowel or severe inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or toxic megacolon.

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Molaxole.

While using Molaxole, you should continue to drink enough fluids. The fluid content of Molaxole should not replace your normal fluid intake.

If you feel faint or breathless, have a great thirst including headache, heart weakness or swollen ankles, stop taking Molaxole and tell your doctor immediately.

Do not take Molaxole for a long period of time unless your doctor has prescribed it, for example if you are taking medicines or have conditions (such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis) that cause constipation.

Children
Do not use in children under 12 years of age.

Taking Molaxole with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility

Molaxole contains sodium.
This medicine contains 187 mg of sodium (the main component of table salt) per sachet. This corresponds to 9.5% of the maximum daily dietary sodium intake recommended for an adult.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to take Molaxole?

Always take Molaxole exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose for constipation is:
Adults:
1 sachet 1 to 3 times daily. The usual dose is 1 to 2 sachets per day. Depending on the individual response, 3 sachets per day may also be needed. The dose depends on the severity of the constipation. After a few days, it can be reduced to the lowest effective dose. Usually, the duration of treatment is 2 weeks. If the symptoms still occur after 2 weeks, please consult your doctor.
Dissolve the contents of one sachet in half a glass of water (about 125ml), stir until the powder is dissolved and drink the solution. If you wish, you can add a fruit juice or fruit syrup before drinking.

Children (under 12 years):It is not recommended to give
Molaxole to children under 12 years.

The recommended dose for faecal stasis (coprostasis) is:
Adults:
The usual dose is 8 sachets per day. The dose of 8 sachets is to be taken within
6 hours and - depending on requirements - over a period of up to 3 days. Treatment of faecal congestion usually takes no longer than 3 days. If you are taking Molaxole for coprostasis, it may be easier to dissolve all 8 sachets at once in 1 litre of water. This solution can be stored in the refrigerator.

Patients with heart disease:
For the treatment of faecal impaction, the dose should be divided so that no more than 2 sachets are taken in one hour.

Patients with impaired renal function:
Neither for the treatment of constipation nor faecal impaction is dose adjustment necessary.

If you have taken more Molaxole than you shouldIf you have taken too much Molaxole and have developed severe diarrhoea or have started vomiting, stop using Molaxole until the diarrhoea or vomiting stops and then start at a lower dose. If you are worried, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

If you forget to take Molaxole
Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten to take it before.

potassium chloride	46.6 mg
The other ingredients (excipients) are potassium acesulfame (E950 - sweetener)
and lemon flavour.

White powder for the preparation of a solution for oral use. MOLAXOLE is available in packs of 13.8 g containing 2, 6, 8, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 100 or 2x50 sachets.
