Tantum Verde - Gargling Solution must not be used
if you are allergic to benzydamine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6. This medicine is not for use if you are allergic to benzydamine or any of the other ingredients listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Tantum Verde - Solution for Gargling.

The use of this medicine, especially long-term use, may cause sensitisation. In this case, or if any of the side effects listed occur, the medicine should be temporarily discontinued and the treating doctor contacted.

Tantum Verde - solution for gargling should be used with caution if you have a history of bronchial asthma, as bronchospasm may occur.

If the pain in the mouth and throat increases or there is no improvement within 3 days, you must contact the doctor or dentist treating you. Long-term use of the medicine could affect the bacterial flora of the oral cavity.

If you are hypersensitive to salicylic acid or other anti-inflammatory painkillers called NSAIDs, use with benzydamine hydrochloride is not advised.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. If used as intended, it may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Driving and ability to operate machinery
Tantum Verde - Gargling Solution does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.

Tantum Verde - Solution for Gargling contains methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate
.The excipient methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate may cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions, and in rare cases respiratory tract spasm.

Tantum Verde - gargle solution Ethanol (alcohol).
This medicine contains 10.1% ethanol (alcohol) by volume.% ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 1200 mg per 15 ml, corresponding to 30.3 ml beer, 12.6 ml wine per 15 ml.

The alcohol in this medicine is likely to have effects on children.
These include drowsiness and behavioural changes. You may also experience impaired concentration and ability to participate in physical activities.
The amount of alcohol in this medicine may affect your ability to drive and use machinery, as it affects your judgement and your ability to react.

If you have epilepsy or liver problems, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

The amount of alcohol in this medicine may change the effects of other medicines.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to use Tantum Verde - Gargle Solution?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet
or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the recommended dose for adults, adolescents and children aged 5 years and over, if they are unable to trigger the swallowing reflex, is 15 ml (1 tablespoon or 4 pumpfuls if using the 1000 ml bottle with dosing pump) 2 - 3 times a day after meals. 4 pump shots when using the 1000 ml bottle with dosing pump) of undiluted solution. The application is done for about 20 - 30 seconds. Smaller children (children from 2 - 5 years) must only be treated with Tantum Verde solution for gargling on a doctor's orders. As the swallowing reflex is not yet fully developed, it is recommended for children aged 2 - 5 years to preferably use Tantum Verde mouth spray. Tantum Verde - Gargling Solution is not suitable for children under 2 years of age. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor or dentist, the dosage recommendation also applies to elderly patients. Tantum Verde - solution for gargling is a ready-to-use solution and is used undiluted for mouth rinses and gargling.

Note:

If you have used a larger amount of Tantum Verde - Solution for Gargling than you should
Unintentionally swallowing smaller amounts is safe.

If used other than as directed (i.e. if Tantum Verde - Solution for Gargling is swallowed in larger quantities), side effects such as vomiting, abdominal pain, sleep disturbances, restlessness, anxiety, convulsions, ataxia, fever, tachycardia and possibly respiratory paralysis may occur.

If you have taken an excessive amount of the medicine or have accidentally swallowed large amounts of the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

As a first measure, you may try to induce vomiting. If symptoms of poisoning occur, symptomatic therapy is recommended (e.g. breathing assistance, removal of poison by gastric lavage, etc.).

If you forget to use Tantum Verde - Gargling SolutionDo not use twice the amount if you have forgotten to use it before.
