Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment is an ointment with an active ingredient from the group of sulfonated shale oils.

1. WHAT IS ICHTHOLAN® 50% - OINTMENT AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment is an ointment with an active substance from the group of sulphonated slate oils. It has an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, blood circulation-increasing and pain-relieving effect.

Ichtholan® 50% ointment is used for the maturation of boils and abscessing processes and as a supportive treatment for gonarthrosis as well as for bruises and sprains.

What IS ICHTHOLAN® 50% - OINTMENT AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment is an ointment with an active substance from the group of sulphonated shale oils. It has an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, circulation-increasing as well as pain-relieving effect.

Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment is used for the maturation of boils and abscessing processes and for supportive treatment in gonarthrosis as well as in bruises and sprains.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

WHAT SHOULD YOU BE AWARE OF BEFORE USING ICHTHOLAN® 50% - Ointment?

Ichtholan 50% - Ointment must not be used
if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to sulphonated shale oils, such as ammonium bituminoside.ammonium bituminosulfonate and/or sodium bituminosulfonate or any of the other ingredients.

Warnings and precautions:
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment.

In the case of purulent skin inflammations, there is a possibility of spreading through smear infection. Therefore, special attention should be paid to cleanliness, cleansing and disinfection of the healthy skin, application of a well covering, non-slipping and non-abrasive dressing.

It is recommended to cover the dressing well to avoid soiling the linen. If the ointment still gets on the laundry, the best way to remove the stains is to leave a liquid detergent on the stain for a longer period of time and then wash it.

A contact with the eyes should be avoided.

If the symptoms persist or if the expected success does not occur through the application, a medical consultation is required as soon as possible.

Note
When treating the genital and anal areas with Ichtholan® 50% ointment, the fats and emulsifiers contained as excipients may reduce the tear resistance of latex condoms and thus impair their safety.

Use of Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment with other medicinal productsInform your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used any other medicinal products.

The simultaneous, additional use of other ointments or creams may impair the effect of Ichtholan 50% - Ointment.
Ammonium bituminosulphonate may increase the solubility of other active substances and thus increase their absorption into the skin.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
There are no sufficient data for the use of Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment during pregnancy or breast-feeding.
A doctor should decide on the use during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Do not drive or use machinery./strong>
Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment has no effect on the ability to drive or operate machinery.

Ichtholan50% ointment contains lanolin and butylated hydroxytoluene
Lanolin may cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).The lanolin contained in this medicinal product contains butylated hydroxytoluene as an antioxidant. Butylhydroxytoluene may cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.

How should the medicine be taken?

HOW TO USE ICHTHOLAN® 50% - OINTMENT?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Apply Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment to the back of a knife to the area of skin to be treated and cover with a dressing.
The dressing should be changed daily. At each dressing change, the ointment residues remaining on the skin must first be washed off before a new dressing is applied.

As a permanent dressing, a dressing change is intended after 3 days. If used as a permanent dressing, the doctor should be consulted as this requires a special dressing technique.

If you have used a larger amount of Ichtholan®. 50% - Ointment than youshould
have used, discontinue the preparation if severe skin irritation occurs. Consult a doctor about further action.

If you forget to use Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment
Do not use twice the amount if you have forgotten to use it before.

If you stop using Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment
Please discuss with a doctor how to proceed, as the success of the treatment may be at risk.

Store this medicine out of the reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and tube after "use by". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

You can use the tubes and the doses after opening until the expiry date indicated on the tube, folding box or can.

Do not store above 25°C.

You can use the tubes and the doses after opening until the expiry date stated on the tube, folding box or can.

Do not store above 25°C.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Ichtholan contains.® 50% - Ointment contains

The active ingredient is ammonium bituminosulfonate (ICHTHYOL®).
1 g ointment contains 0.5 g ammonium bituminosulphonate (ICHTHYOL®).
The other ingredients are:
Yellow vaseline, microcrystalline hydrocarbons (C40-C60), lanolin, purified water

Brown-black ointment.
Ichtholan® 50% - Ointment is available in tubes (aluminium) of 40 g and in tins (plastic) of
250 g.
