The typical character of BRUT RESERVE comes from the cool and animating freshness of the Danube region. High-lying and cool vineyards paired with the regional varietal character of Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Pinot Noir form the style of this classic. The grapes are harvested into small boxes when perfectly ripe and pressed immediately, but only the heart is used for the base wine. After 6 -12 months of barrel ageing, it is bottled for the 2nd fermentation. It now rests on the yeast, which contributes to the creamy texture, for 2 to 3 years until it is shaken and disgorged by hand.
Vine varieties:
Pinot Noir, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner
About manufacturer:
SCHLOSS GOBELSBURG is one of the oldest wineries in the Austrian Danube region.
The winery is closely linked to the history of the Cistercian monastery of Zwettl and can look back on documentation dating back to 1171. The vineyards on barren slopes and terraces are located in the Kamptal near Langenlois and Gobelsburg. Schloss Gobelsburg concentrates on the grape varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. Authentic wines from single vineyards, regional and village appellations are produced.
The Schloss Gobelsburg Winery is a member of the association 'Österreichische Traditionsweingüter' (Austrian Traditional Wineries), whose aim is to establish a site classification in the Danube region.
