China-Oel is a traditional herbal medicinal product

- for the relief of symptoms of cough and cold (inhalation of vapour)

- for the relief of tension headache (application to the skin)

China-Oel must not be used,

• if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to peppermint or menthol,
• in children under 2 years of age (risk of laryngospasm),
• China-Oel must not be used in patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with pronounced hypersensitivity of the airways due to the peppermint oil content.
  Inhalation of China-Oel can lead to shortness of breath or trigger an asthma attack.

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your pharmacist before using China-Oel.

China-Oel must not come into contact with the eyes.
Wash your hands thoroughly after each application, otherwise eye irritation may occur.

Do not apply China-Oel to open or irritated skin.

Children
Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to lack of data.
The medicinal product must not be used in children under 2 years of age, as menthol can lead to reflex apnoea and laryngospasm.

Use of China-Oel with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or plan to take/use any other medicines.

No interactions are known.
No studies have been performed to investigate interactions.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

As there is insufficient data, the use of this medicinal product is not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines
No studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines have been performed.

How should the medicine be taken?

How should China-Oel be used?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:

For the relief of symptoms of cough and cold
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:
3 - 4 drops 2 - 3 times a day.

Method of administration:
For inhalation.
Add 3 – 4 drops to hot water and inhale with closed eyes. The 25 ml pack contains a pocket inhaler which facilitates controlled inhalation.

Pocket inhaler

1.	Remove the blue cap of the inhaler and
2.	pull it out of the inhaler base together with the absorbent fleece.
3.	Distribute 3–4 drops on the fleece.
4.	Insert the cap with the absorbent fleece into the inhaler base and close.

5.	Treatment of the nasal cavity:
Insert the blue side of the inhaler alternately into the nostrils and inhale deeply through the nose

6. Treatment of the throat:
Place the white side of the inhaler in the mouth and inhale deeply through it

• Insert the inhaler a maximum of 1 cm into the nose or mouth.
• Clean the inhaler externally with a clean cloth after use.
• For hygienic reasons, each inhaler should only be used by one person.

Duration of use:
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days, consult your doctor.

For the relief of tension headache
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:
2 - 3 drops up to 3 times a day.

Method of administration:
For application to the skin.
Apply to temples and forehead and massage in gently.

Duration of use:
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days, consult your doctor.
For the relief of local muscular pain
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:
2 - 3 drops up to 3 times a day.

Method of administration:
For application to the skin.
Apply to the affected areas and massage in gently.

Duration of use:
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 4 weeks, consult your doctor.
Use in children:
Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to lack of data.
The medicinal product must not be used in children under 2 years of age, as menthol can lead to reflex apnoea and laryngospasm.

If you have used more China-Oel than you should
Inhalation
Inhalation of large doses of menthol can lead to dizziness, confusion, muscle weakness, nausea or double vision. In this case, stop inhaling immediately.

Application to the skin
No cases of overdose are known. Wipe off any excess China-Oel with a cloth.

If you forget to use China-Oel
Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Continue using as described in the instructions for use.

If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

What side effects are possible?

Do not store above 25 ºC.
Store the bottle in the outer carton in order to protect the contents from light.

Shelf life after first opening the container: 2 years.

The active substance is: Peppermint oil

10 ml China-Oel contains 10 ml peppermint oil (Menthae piperitae aetheroleum).

The other ingredients are: none

1 ml = 35 drops

What China-Oel looks like and contents of the pack

China-Oel is a colourless to slightly yellowish-greenish liquid for inhalation or application to the skin in a white glass bottle of 10 or 25 ml, packed in an outer carton. The 25 ml pack also contains a pocket inhaler.
