Daktarin is a synthetic antifungal agent.

Application

1. What is Daktarin and what is it used for?

Daktarin is a synthetic antifungal agent. It inhibits the growth and reproduction of fungi that cause skin and mucous membrane diseases in humans. It also has an antibacterial effect. The active ingredient is practically not absorbed through the skin. The itching that often occurs with fungal infections disappears in most cases very soon. This effect is already evident before healing.

Areas of application: For the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and skin folds, fungal infections in the finger spaces and superficial candidoses.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.

Warnings and precautions

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Daktarin.

Avoid contact with eyes.

If severe skin irritation or hypersensitivity reactions occur (especially severe burning, excessive itching), treatment should be discontinued.

If itchy blisters appear in the toe spaces or if larger areas of skin peel off, this is a clear indication of a fungal infection. The disease often spreads from here to the foot and possibly to other parts of the body.
Dry, scaly areas can be seen on the soles of the feet, which are also an indication of a fungal infection.

Hygiene measures, such as daily washing of the affected areas, daily changing and washing of socks, and changing and disinfecting shoes in the case of skin fungal diseases of the feet, promote the treatment result.

Use of Daktarin together with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Interactions with Daktarin are very rare. However, caution is advised with the following medications, their effect may be increased:

  • oral anticoagulants, e.g. warfarin (blood thinners).
  • oral antidiabetics (tablets for the treatment of diabetes).
  • phenytoin (a medicine for epileptic seizures).
Monitoring by your doctor is necessary when using these medicines together with Daktarin.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
