Other skin conditions, even in other areas, where there is a suspicion of a fungal infection, should not be self-treated. In these cases, treatment should only be carried out on the orders of a doctor.

If cream and latex products (e.g. condoms, diaphragms) or locally applied chemical contraceptives (e.g. vaginal suppositories) are used at the same time, the functionality may be reduced and thus the safety of these products may be impaired.

The cream is not intended for use on the eye. Do not swallow.

How to use Canesten Clotrimazole Cream?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:
To ensure complete healing, treatment should be continued as directed below, even if the symptoms have disappeared.
Foot and nail fungal infections:
The cream is applied thinly to the affected skin areas 2 - 3 times a day and rubbed in. Due to its intensive effectiveness, a small amount of cream is usually sufficient for an area about the size of a hand.
Before applying the cream, you should wash the affected skin areas to remove loose skin flakes. Then dry the skin thoroughly, because fungi love moisture.
In the case of athlete's foot, treatment should be continued for about 3-4 weeks beyond the disappearance of all signs of the disease, despite rapid improvement. The treatment period is at least 4 weeks.
Infections of the labia (Candida vulvitis), inflammation of the glans and foreskin of the man (Candida balanitis):
In the case of infections of the labia and adjacent areas of the woman, apply the cream 1 - 3 times a day to the corresponding skin areas (external genitalia to the anus).
The cream is also recommended for the simultaneous treatment of inflammation of the glans and foreskin of the man to prevent reinfection.
The general duration of treatment is 1 - 2 weeks.
To achieve lasting success of the treatment, the treatment should not be discontinued after the acute symptoms have subsided.

See a doctor if the symptoms have not improved within 4 weeks of starting treatment.

Children and adolescents

Data on a limited number of newborns, infants, toddlers, children and adolescents do not indicate any negative effects when using Canesten Clotrimazole Cream.

If you have used more Canesten Clotrimazole Cream than you should

The consequences of using too much Canesten Creme are not known, there are no reports of this.

If you forget to use Canesten Clotrimazole Cream

Do not use a larger amount of Canesten Creme the next time, but continue treatment as recommended.

If you stop using Canesten Clotrimazole Cream

For complete success of the treatment and to achieve complete healing of the fungal infection, reliable and sufficiently long use is particularly important, it should not be discontinued after the acute subjective symptoms or the inflammatory symptoms have subsided. If you do this nevertheless, a recurrence of the symptoms is to be feared, as your fungal infection is probably not yet properly healed.

What else can you do?
Change towels, laundry and stockings that come into contact with the affected skin area daily. This simple measure alone supports healing and prevents transmission to other parts of the body and to other people.
Nail fungal infections are more difficult to treat. It is advisable to cut or file the nails short. Canesten Clotrimazole - solution is preferable because of its better penetration.

See a doctor if the symptoms have not improved within 4 weeks of starting treatment.
