L-lysine, together with L-arginine and L-histidine, belongs to the group of basic amino acids. Since the organism is not able to produce the amino acid itself, lysine must be supplied through the diet. The amino acid L-lysine, as the counterpart of the amino acid L-arginine, is part of a system in balance. If you shift the balance in one direction through an unbalanced diet, you can disrupt the balance in the body's amino acid pool. In addition to the amino acid lysine, L-Lysine plus from Pure Encapsulations® also contains the trace elements selenium and zinc, which contribute to the normal function of the immune system as well as to the protection of cells against oxidative stress. The food supplement made from pure substances is ideal for covering an increased requirement as well as for meeting the needs of primarily vegetarian or vegan diets. The amino acid L-lysine is essential for the organism and is also involved in the endogenous synthesis of L-carnitine.
