Aciclobene ,,ratiopharm" cold sore cream contains a virus inhibitor that has a high activity against certain viruses of the herpes group.
Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream is used for the local treatment of cold sores (herpes labialis).
How is it applied?

Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream contains a virus inhibitor which has a high activity against certain viruses of the herpes group.
Aciclobene "ratiopharm" fever blister cream is used for the local treatment of fever blisters (herpes labialis).

Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream must not be used
if you are allergic to aciclovir and/or valaciclovir, propylene glycol, cetyl alcohol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6. other ingredients mentioned in this medicine.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream.
Special care isrequired when using Aciclobene "ratiopharm" Cold Sore Cream.
The cream must not be applied to the mucous membrane in the mouth and vagina, as this could lead to localised irritation of the mucous membrane.
Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream must not be used on the eye under any circumstances.
Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream is for external use only and must not be swallowed.
If your body's defences are severely weakened, seek advice from a doctor before using Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream.
Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream is not to be used to prevent herpes simplex infections.
If the symptoms persist or if the expected success from the application does not occur, medical advice is required as soon as possible.
When using Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream with other medicinesPlease inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used other medicines. recently taken/have taken other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.
No clinically significant interactions have been observed so far with topical use.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using any medicines.
The use of Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream during pregnancy is decided by the doctor in each individual case. When using Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream, the absorption of the active ingredient into the body is very low.
If you have herpes skin conditions on or near the breast, do not breastfeed. The dose reached by a breastfed baby after application of Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream to the mother is negligible.
Driving and operating machinery
Externally administered aciclovir does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
Important information about certain other ingredients of Aciclobene "ratiopharm"-Feverblister Cream
Propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.
Cetyl alcohol may cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis)
How should the medicine be taken?
HOW TO USE Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The following dosage is recommended:
Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream should be applied thinly to the affected areas of skin 5 times a day at four-hour intervals so that all skin lesions are adequately covered.
If you apply Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream to the lips with your finger, you should clean your hands thoroughly before and after application to avoid infecting other parts of the body (especially the eye and the mucous membranes in the mouth and vaginal area). It may be useful to wear finger guards or rubber gloves. Close the tube carefully after use.
The duration of treatment is usually 5 days, but may be extended to up to 10 days in individual cases, depending on the progress of healing.
Treatment with Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream should be started at the earliest possible time after the outbreak of infection. In the case of frequently recurring infections, treatment should be started as soon as possible when the first signs such as itching, redness and a feeling of tightness appear (prodromal stage).
If you have useda larger amount of Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream than you should.
Even if the entire contents of a 2 g tube of Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream containing 100 mg of aciclovir are swallowed, no adverse effects are expected.
If in doubt, contact a doctor, pharmacist or the nearest hospital.
If you forget to use Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream
Do not use a double dose if you have forgotten to use it before.
Continue using as usual.

What are the possible side effects?

Do not store above 30°C.
After first opening: Do not store above 25°C.
Store out of reach of children.
Use for 1 year after first opening.
You must not use the medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the tube and the outer carton after "Use by:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
The medicinal product must not be disposed of in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you no longer need it. This measure helps to protect the environment.

- The active ingredient is: aciclovir.
1 g of cream contains 50 mg of aciclovir. - The other ingredients are:
Propylene glycol, white vaseline, liquid paraffin, macrogol glycerol stearate, cetyl alcohol, dimethicone, purified water .
Aciclobene "ratiopharm" cold sore cream is a soft, white, smooth, odourless cream.
Tubes made of aluminium with 2 g cream.
