Just as you brush your teeth every day, you should also rinse your nose once or twice a day in times of increased risk of infection or stress: For nasal care, as a preventative measure against colds, as a quick remedy for allergies or simply to rid the nose of daily stress.
Application
Rinsing the nose is most pleasant when the rinsing solution is lukewarm. The salt must be completely dissolved beforehand by shaking.
Open your mouth wide when rinsing, then the water simply runs in to one nostril and out to the other - and not down your throat.
A little residual solution may collect in your nasal niches. It can be easily removed by bending your head to the left and right a few times - preferably over the sink!
Caution:
Rinsing with pure water is not advisable, as it irritates the nasal mucosa and causes painful swelling!
Note
Nasal rinses are particularly recommended here: rhinitis, chronic nasal and sinus infections, pollen and house dust allergies, prevention of colds, dry nose, heavy dust exposure, tendency to snore due to catarrhal conditions, follow-up treatment after endonasal surgery.
