What is Tantum Verde forte oral spray and what is it usedfor?

The active substance benzydamine hydrochloride has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It quickly penetrates the tissue and fights the inflammation there. This quickly alleviates swallowing difficulties and pain.

Application:
For symptomatic treatment of painful inflammation and swelling of the mouth and throat, especially in colds. After operations, for laryngitis and for damage after radiotherapy.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 days, consult your doctor.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you bear in mind before using Tantum Verde forte - Oral spray?
Tantum Verde forte - Oral Spray must not be used,
- if you are allergic to benzydamine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
- in babies and young children under 2 years of age.

Warnings and Precautions

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Tantum Verde forte - Mouth Spray.
Use of this medicine, especially prolonged use, may cause sensitisation. In this case, or if any of the side effects listed occur, the medicine should be temporarily discontinued and the treating doctor contacted.

Tantum Verde forte - oral spray should be used with caution if you have a history of bronchial asthma, as bronchospasm may occur.

If the pain in the mouth and throat increases or there is no improvement within 3 days, you must contact the doctor or dentist treating you.

If you are hypersensitive to salicylic acid or other anti-inflammatory painkillers, so-called NSAIDs, use with benzydamine hydrochloride is not recommended.

Long-term use of the medicine could affect the bacterial flora of the oral cavity.

Use of Tantum Verde forte - Mouth spray with other medicinesInform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or are planning to take/use any other medicines.
No interactions are known.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
When used as intended, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is possible.

Driving and ability to operate machines
Tantum Verde forte -- Oral spray has no influence on the ability to drive and operate machines.

Tantum Verde forte -- Mouth Spray contains methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, ethanol (alcohol) and macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate

The excipient methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate may cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions and, in rare cases, respiratory tract spasm.

This medicinal product contains 10.1 vol.% ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 54.4 mg per 0.68 ml (4 sprays), corresponding to 1.38 ml beer, 0.57 ml wine per 0.68 ml (4 sprays).

It is unlikely that the amount of alcohol in this medicine will have any effects on
adults and adolescents or that any effects will be noticeable in children.
In young children, effects may be possible, e.g. drowsiness.

The amount of alcohol in this medicine may change the effects of other medicines.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

If you are dependent on alcohol, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

This medicine contains macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate, which can cause stomach upset and diarrhoea.

How to take the medicine?

How to use Tantum Verde forte - Oral spray?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Tantum Verde forte - Oral spray is for use in the mouth and throat.

Instructions for use:

1. Lift the pump nozzle.

2. Insert the pump nozzle into the mouth opening and aim the spray at the inflamed area. Operate the spray head with the index finger.

Before using Tantum Verde forte - Mouth Spray for the first time, pump until a uniform spray is ensured.

Dosage:
Tantum Verde forte -- Oral spray is generally used 2 - 6 times a day (every 1 ½ -3 hours):
Each 2 - 4 sprays in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age, 2 sprays in children between 6 and 12 years of age, in children under 6 years of age 1 spray per 8 kg of body weight, maximum 2 sprays.
If not otherwise prescribed by the dentist or doctor, the dosage recommendation also applies to older patients.

If you have used a larger amount of Tantum Verde forte -- Oral spray than you should
Unintentionally swallowing small amounts is harmless.

If you have taken an excessive amount of the medicine or have accidentally swallowed large amounts of the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

As a first measure, you may try to induce vomiting.
If the medicine is not used as intended (i.e. if Tantum Verde forte - Oral Spray is swallowed in large quantities), side effects such as vomiting, abdominal pain, sleep disturbances, restlessness, anxiety, convulsions, ataxia, fever, tachycardia and possibly respiratory paralysis may occur.
If symptoms of poisoning occur, symptomatic therapy is recommended (e.g. respiratory assistance, removal of poison by gastric lavage, etc.)

If you have forgotten to use Tantum Verde forte -- Oral spray
Do not apply double the amount if you have forgotten to use it before.
If you have taken a larger amount of Tantum Verde forte -- Oral spray than you should

- The active substance is: Benzydamine hydrochloride. 1 ml contains 3 mg benzydamine hydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: Saccharin sodium, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (preservative), glycerol, 96% ethanol (alcohol), peppermint flavouring, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate, purified water.

Each spray is 0.17 ml of solution.
