If you wear contact lenses, please also refer to the section "Livostin - eye drops contain propylene glycol and benzalkonium chloride" at the end of this section.

Without a doctor's prescription, Livostin eye drops should not be used for longer than 2 weeks. If a treatment is to last longer than 2 weeks, it must be prescribed by a doctor and continuously monitored. Should the complaints worsen or remain the same, a doctor should be consulted after three days at the latest (see also section 3).

Eye irritation or redness can also be signs of a serious eye disease. Livostin eye drops should only be used if you have symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis such as itching, redness, swelling of the conjunctiva and eyelids, and eye tears. The symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis start within seconds to minutes in both eyes after contact with the allergenic substance and are often combined with symptoms of allergic rhinitis.

Eye irritation or redness due to infection requires medical treatment. If any of the following symptoms apply to you, please contact your doctor immediately:
- severe eye pain, possibly also headache,
- strong foreign body sensation,
- Loss of vision or visual disturbances caused by mucus threads and secretion on the eye,
- Flake vision,
- Severe acute or unilateral eye redness, which usually spreads to the second eye within 1 - 8 days,
- Swelling of the lymph nodes, especially in front of the ears,
- Severe swelling of the conjunctiva, sometimes also of the eyelids,
- Purulent secretion (resulting in sticky eyes, especially in the morning when getting up),
- Watery, later also mucous secretion,
- Pain on exposure to light or seeing double images.

Children under 8 years:
The efficacy and safety of Livostin - eye drops have not been established in children under 8 years of age. Therefore, use in this age group is not recommended.

Use Livostin - Eye Drops with other medicinesInform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.
If the recommended dosage is observed, no interactions are to be expected. The simultaneous use of other anti-allergic medicines (also in other dosage forms) is possible.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Pregnancy:
The doctor in charge decides whether Livostin eye drops should be used during pregnancy. Therefore, the application may only be carried out after consultation with this person.

Breastfeeding time:
The use of Livostin - eye drops during breast-feeding is possible with caution.

Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
Caution: this medicinal product may impair the ability to react and drive.
Livostin - eye drops do not normally affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. However, with some side effects (see also section 4), vision and thus the ability to react in road traffic or when operating machinery may be impaired. These activities should only be resumed once visual performance has been fully restored.

Livostin - eye drops contain propylene glycol and benzalkonium chloride.
As with all preparations intended for application to the eye that contain benzalkonium chloride, propylene glycol and esters, contact with soft contact lenses must be avoided as Livostin - eye drops may cause irritation to the eye. Contact lenses must be removed before use and must not be reinserted until at least 15 minutes after use. Benzalkonium chloride is known to cause discolouration of soft contact lenses.
Propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to use Livostin - Eye Drops?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:

Dosage
Adults, adolescents and children aged 8 years and over:
1 drop of Livostin - eye drops per eye, 2x daily. In cases of severe disease, use up to 3-4 times a day.

Children under 8 years:
The efficacy and safety of Livostin - Eye Drops has not been established in children under 8 years of age. Therefore, use in this age group is not recommended (see also section 2 "Livostin - eye drops must not be used").

Type of application:
For use on the eye. Instill into the eye bag.
1) Wash hands thoroughly before use.
2) Avoid contact between the tip of the vial and the eye or eyelid to prevent contamination of the remaining liquid.
3) Shake well before removing the screw cap.
4) Tilt the head back as far as possible.
5) Squeeze the vial tightly. Shake the vial well before removing the screw cap.

5) Squeeze the vial and carefully drip a drop into the inner corner of the eye. Continue to keep the head tilted back and pull the lower eyelid down so that the drop can reach the lower part of the eye. As you do this, you will automatically blink, which will spread the drop over the whole eye.

Duration of treatment:

The optimal and successful treatment of allergic diseases requires both an initial diagnosis and regular checks by the doctor.
Livostin - eye drops should therefore not be used for longer than 2 weeks without a doctor's prescription. If after this time the symptoms have not been sufficiently relieved, the doctor should be consulted in order to clarify the exact cause. If the symptoms worsen or remain the same, a doctor should be consulted after three days at the latest.
On prescription by a doctor, Livostin eye drops can also be used for longer than 2 weeks. In this case, it should not be used for longer than 3 months if used regularly.

Treatment should only be carried out until the symptoms of the disease have subsided, but not for longer than 3 months (see also section 2 "Warnings and precautions").

The duration between two applications is determined by the effect of Livostin - eye drops. Livostin - eye drops should be used at the first signs of allergic irritation of the conjunctiva.

In case of simultaneous treatment with other eye drops, an interval of 15 minutes must be observed between applications.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Livostin - Eye Drops is too strong or too weak.

If you have used a larger amount of Livostin - Eye Drops than youshould
Reports of overdoses with levocabastine are not available. If you accidentally drink the whole bottle, you may feel a little sleepy. Tell a doctor and drink as much water as possible in the meantime.
If you forget to use Livostin - Eye Drops
Do not use a double dose if you have forgotten to use it before. Instead, simply apply the usual following dosage at the usual time.
If you stop using Livostin eye drops
Do not suddenly stop using the medicine or change the prescribed dosage on your own. If you want to stop the treatment, please discuss this with your doctor first.

Contents of the pack and other information
What Livostin - eye drops contain:
- The active substance is: levocabastine hydrochloride. 1 ml contains levocabastine hydrochloride corresponding to 0.5 mg levocabastine.
1 drop contains approximately 0.015 mg levocabastine (1 ml = 33 drops).
- The other ingredients are: Benzalkonium chloride, propylene glycol, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate,
Hypromellose, polysorbate 80, disodium edetate, water for injections.
