Kamillosan is a traditional herbal medicinal product for use on the skin (also as a bath additive), in the oral cavity, for inhalation and to take.
Application
1. What is Kamillosan liquid and what is it used for?
100 g Kamillosan liquid contains 100 g extract of chamomile flowers (1: 4.0-4.5), adjusted to a content of 100 mg Levomenol / 100 g extract. The extractant is ethanol 38.5 %
(m/m).
Kamillosan is a liquid for the preparation of a solution for application to the skin, a liquid for the preparation of a solution for application to the throat and oral cavity, a liquid for the preparation of a solution for ingestion or a liquid for the preparation of a solution for application to the skin.for use in the throat and oral cavity, a liquid for the preparation of a solution for oral use or a liquid for the preparation of a solution for inhalation.
For external use:
- for inflammation of the oral cavity and pharynx, ulcers of the oral mucous membrane,inflammation of the tongue or pharynx, sore throat, pressure ulcers under denturesdentivitis with slightly bleeding gums, for aphthae.
(Use for gargling or rinsing or undiluted for brushing)
- for itching of the skin, inflammations, abscesses, boils, infected wounds and burns. (as compresses or rinses)
- for anal fissures, anal eczema, haemorrhoids, and gynaecological disorders.
(as a sitz bath or partial bath)
- for skin-sensitive babies with sores in the nappy area. (as a baby bath)
- for inflammatory genital diseases, such as vaginitis with itching or discharge.
(as a vaginal douche or sitz bath)
- for colds or sinusitis. (use as inhalation)
- to support the local treatment of acne. (as a facial steam bath)
For internal use:
- for cramps of the abdominal organs and supportive for inflammation or ulceration of the stomach or duodenum, gall bladder disease, intestinal irritation; during and after prolonged fasting.
How is it applied?
What is Kamillosan and what is it used for?
Kamillosan is a traditional herbal medicinal product for use on the skin (also as a bath additive), in the oral cavity, for inhalation and for ingestion.
For use on the skin
- for the treatment of minor inflammations of the skin (sunburn) (as a wash, compress or partial bath)
- for superficial wounds and boils (as a wash, compress or partial bath)
.- Supportive therapy for irritations of the skin and mucous membrane in the genital region (as a compress, for rinsing or as a sitz bath)
For use in the oral cavity
- for inflammations in the area of the oral cavity, such as.B.:
- for inflammation of the oral mucosa (stomatitis aphthosa) ,
- Inflammation of the tongue (glossitis) ,
- Pressure ulcers under dentures,
- Parodontosis with slightly bleeding gums,
- Inflammation of the periodontium (periodontitis).
- for colds (as steam inhalation)
For ingestion
- for gastrointestinal complaints such as: Bloating and flatulence.
This medicinal product is a traditional herbal medicinal product registered exclusively on the basis of long-standing use for the above-mentioned indications.
Kamillosan is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over.
If you do not feel better or even worse after 5 days, consult your doctor.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?
What should you be aware of before using Kamillosan?
Kamillosan must not be used,
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to camomile and other plants of the composite family (e.g. mugwort, yarrow, chrysanthemums or daisies).e.g. mugwort, yarrow, chrysanthemum or daisies) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking/using Kamillosan.
Children
Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to lack of data.
Use Kamillosan with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.
No studies have been conducted to detect interactions.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
As there are insufficient data, use during pregnancy and
breast-feeding is not recommended.
The alcohol content of 1.8 g per single oral dose should be taken into account.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
No studies have been conducted on the effects on driving and ability
to operate machinery.
Kamillosan contains alcohol
This medicinal product contains 34.5% (m/m) ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 1.8 g per single dose
for oral use (5 ml), corresponding to 45 ml beer, 19 ml wine per single dose.
There is a health risk for patients suffering from alcoholism.
The alcohol content must be taken into account in pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as in children and patients with
increased risk due to liver disease or epilepsy.
How should the medicine be taken?
How to use Kamillosan?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over is:
For use on the skin
For compresses, washes and rinses: 15-30 ml to 1 litre of water 1 time to several times daily.
For sitz and partial baths:15 ml to 1 litre of water 1 time to several times daily.

For use in the oral cavity
- For mouth rinsing: dilute 5 ml Kamillosan in a glass of water and rinse the mouth once to several times daily.
- For brushing: Apply undiluted Kamillosan with a cotton swab to the area to be treated once or several times a day.
-For inhalation
15 ml to ½ litre of hot water 1 to 3 times daily.
For ingestion
Take 5 ml of Kamillosan diluted in a cup of warm water 1 to 4 times a day.
A suitable measuring cup is enclosed.
Use in children:
Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to lack of data.
Type of application:
For use on the skin
Dilute Kamillosan with water or add to the bath water.
For use in the oral cavity
For rinsing: Dilute Kamillosan in a glass of water.
For brushing: Apply undiluted with a cotton bud.
For inhalation
Dilute Kamillosan with water.
For ingestion
Take Kamillosan diluted in a cup of warm water.
Duration of use:
If you do not feel better or even worse after 5 days, consult your doctor.
If you have used a larger amount of Kamillosan than you should
No cases of overdose have been reported.
If you forget to take/apply Kamillosan
Do not take/apply twice the amount if you have forgotten to take/apply it before.
If you have any further questions about taking/using this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
What are the possible side effects?
How to store Kamillosan?
No special storage conditions are required for the unopened medicinal product.
Do not store above 25°C after first opening.
Keep this medicinal product out of the reach of children.
You must not use the medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the outer carton and the container. The expiry date refers to the last day of the indicated month.
Shelf life after first opening: 1 year
The natural flocculation that sometimes occurs has no influence on the quality of the preparation.
Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of this medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Kamillosan contains
- The active ingredients are:
100 g contain 100 g liquid extract of a mixture of flower heads (chamomile flowers, Matricariae flos) and tongue flowers of the true chamomile (Matricaria recutita) in a ratio of 4.7:1, drug extract ratio (DEV) 1:4.0-4.5, extracting agents per 100 g: 40.08 g ethanol 96 %
(v/v) , 57.69 g purified water, 1.36 g sodium acetate trihydrate, 0.45 g sodium ascorbate and 0.41 g sodium hydroxide.
- The other ingredients are:
Sodium acetate trihydrate, sodium hydroxide, sodium L-(+)ascorbate, ethanol, water.
Total ethanol content: 34.5% (m/m)
