The full name of your medicine is Clarityn 10 mg Tablets.

What Clarityn is
Clarityn contains the active substance loratadine, which belongs to the group of antihistamines.

How Clarityn works
Clarityn helps to reduce your allergic symptoms by inhibiting the action of a substance calledhistamine. Histamine is produced in your own body when you have an allergic reaction to something.

When to use Clarityn
Clarityn relieves symptoms of allergic rhinitis (e.g. hay fever) with accompanying symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose, itching and burning in the nose and eyes.

Clarityn relieves symptoms of allergic rhinitis (e.g. hay fever) with accompanying symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose, as well as itching and burning in the nose and eyes, in adults and children over 2 years of age with a body weight over 30 kg.

Clarityn is also suitable for treating and relieving the symptoms of urticaria (itching, redness and vesicles).
The effect of Clarityn lasts for a whole day and should help you to carry out your normal activities during the day and sleep at night.

If you do not feel better or even worse, consult your doctor.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What you should be aware of before taking Clarityn?
Clarityn must not be taken,
- if you are allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Clarityn if:
- you have liver dysfunction.
- you plan to have skin allergy tests. Do not take Clarityn two days before taking these tests as it may affect the test results.

If any of the above applies to you (or you are not sure), please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Clarityn.

Children
Do not give Clarityn 10 mg - Tablets to children younger than 6 years or who weigh 30 kg or less. For children younger than 6 years or with a body weight of 30 kg or less, there are more suitable dosage forms (not available in Austria).

Children under 2 years:
The safety and efficacy of Clarityn have not been established. No data are available on this.

Taking Clarityn with other medicines
The side effects of Clarityn may be increased if Clarityn is taken with enzymes responsible for drug metabolism that affect the performance of the liver. However, no increased side effects have been observed in clinical studies when taking such performance-altering enzymes together with loratadine.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently taken other medicines, are currently taking other medicines or plan to take other medicines. This also applies to medicines that have not been prescribed.

Taking Clarityn with alcohol
The effect of alcoholic drinks is not increased by taking Clarityn.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
As a precaution, it is advised to avoid taking Clarityn during pregnancy.

Do not take Clarityn if you are breast-feeding. Loratadine passes into breast milk.

Driving and ability to operate machinery
In clinical studies assessing driving ability, no impairment was observed in patients taking loratadine. Taking Clarityn at the recommended dose is not likely to cause drowsiness or reduce your alertness. However, in very rare cases
some people develop drowsiness, which may impair their ability to drive or operate machinery.

Clarityn contains lactose. Please take this medicine only after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from a sugar intolerance.

How should the medicine be taken?

How to take Clarityn?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The break notch is only for dividing the tablet if you have difficulty swallowing it whole.

The recommended dose is:

Adults and children 6 years or older with a body weight of more than 30 kg:
Take one tablet once daily with a glass of water, regardless of meals.

With a body weight of 30 kg or less:
Do not administer Clarityn 10 mg - Tablets. For children younger than 6 years or who weigh 30 kg or less, there are more suitable dosage forms (not available in Austria).

Children under 2 years of age:
The use of Clarityn in children under 2 years of age is not advised.

Clarityn should only be administered to children under 12 years of age via a doctor's prescription.

Adults and children with severe liver impairment:
Adults and children weighing more than 30 kg:
Take one tablet every other day with a glass of water, regardless of meals. However, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

If you have taken more Clarityn than you should
If you have taken more Clarityn than you should, talk to your doctor or pharmacist immediately. No serious side effects are expected, but you may experience headaches, an accelerated heartbeat or drowsiness.

If you forget to take Clarityn
If you forget to take your dose, take it as soon as you notice and then return to your usual schedule. Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten to take it before.

If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the blister after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

The active substance is: loratadine. Each tablet contains 10 mg loratadine.
The other ingredients are: Lactose monohydrate, maize starch and magnesium stearate.

Tablet.
White to whitish oval tablet with a break notch on one side and plain on the other side.
Clarityn 10 mg - Tablets are available in pack sizes of 7, 10, 14, 20, 30, or 60 tablets.
