What is Tantum Verde Mouth Spray and what is it used for?
The active ingredient benzydamine hydrochloride has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It quickly penetrates the tissue and fights the inflammation there. As a result, swallowing difficulties and pain soon subside.
Application:
Symptomatic treatment of painful inflammation and swelling of the mouth and throat, especially in colds. After operations, in case of
laryngitis and damage after radiotherapy.
If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 days, consult your doctor.

What is Tantum Verde mouth spray and what is it used for?

What should you pay attention to before taking it?
What should you be aware of before using Tantum Verde- Oral Spray?
Tantum Verde - Oral Spray must not be used,
- if you are allergic to benzydamine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
- in babies and young children under 2 years of age.
Warnings and Precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Tantum Verde - Mouth Spray.
Use of this medicine, especially prolonged use, may cause sensitisation. In this case, or if any of the side effects listed occur, the medicine should be temporarily discontinued and the treating doctor contacted.
Tantum Verde - Mouth Spray should be used with caution if you have a history of bronchial asthma, as bronchospasm may occur.
If the pain in the mouth and throat increases or there is no improvement within 3 days, you must contact the doctor or dentist treating you.
If you are hypersensitive to salicylic acid or other anti-inflammatory painkillers known as NSAIDs, use with benzydamine hydrochloride is not advised.
Long-term use of the medicine could affect the bacterial flora of the oral cavity.
Use of Tantum Verde - Mouth Spray with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or are thinking of taking/using any other medicines.
No interactions are known.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
When used as directed, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is possible.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
Tantum Verde - Oral spray has no effect on driving and ability to operate machinery.
Tantum Verde - Oral Spray contains methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate
The excipient methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate may cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions and, in rare cases, airway spasm.
Tantum Verde - Mouth Spray contains ethanol (alcohol)
This medicinal product contains 10.1 vol.% ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 108.8 mg per 1.36 ml (8 sprays), corresponding to 2.75 ml beer, 1.14 ml wine per 1.36 ml (8 sprays).
The alcohol in this medicine is likely to have effects on children.
These include drowsiness and behavioural changes. You may also experience impaired concentration and ability to participate in physical activities.
The amount of alcohol in this medicine may affect your ability to drive and use machinery, as it affects your judgement and ability to react.
If you have epilepsy or liver problems, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
The amount of alcohol in this medicine may change the effects of other medicines.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
If you are dependent on alcohol, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
How should the medicine be taken?
How to use Tantum Verde - Oral Spray?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Tantum Verde - Oral Spray is for use in the mouth and throat.
Instructions for use:
1. Lift the pump nozzle.
2. Insert the pump nozzle into the mouth opening and aim the spray at the inflamed area. Operate the spray head with the index finger.
Before using Tantum Verde - Mouth Spray for the first time, pump until a uniform spray is ensured.
Dosage:
Tantum Verde - Oral Spray is generally used 2 - 6 times a day (every 1 ½ -3 hours): 4 - 8 sprays each for adults and adolescents over 12 years
4 sprays for children between 6 and 12 years
for children under 6 years, 1 spray per 4 kg body weight, maximum 4 sprays.
Unless otherwise prescribed by the dentist or doctor, the dosage recommendation also applies to older patients.
If you have used a larger amount of Tantum Verde - Oral Spray than you should
Unintentionally swallowing small amounts is harmless.
If you have taken an excessive amount of the medicine or have accidentally swallowed large amounts of the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
As a first measure, you may try to induce vomiting.
If not used as directed (i.e. if Tantum Verde - Oral Spray is swallowed in larger
amounts), side effects such as vomiting, abdominal pain, sleep disturbances, restlessness, anxiety, convulsions, ataxia, fever, tachycardia and possibly respiratory paralysis may occur.
If symptoms of poisoning occur, symptomatic therapy is recommended (e.g. respiratory assistance, removal of poison by gastric lavage, etc.).)
If you forget to use Tantum Verde - Mouth Spray
Do not use twice the amount if you have forgotten to use it before.

What Tantum Verde -Mouth Spray contains
- The active substance is: Benzydamine hydrochloride. 1 ml contains 1.5 mg benzydamine hydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: Saccharin, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (preservative), glycerol, sodium hydrogen carbonate, ethanol 96 % (alcohol), peppermint flavouring, polysorbate 20, purified water.
Each spray is 0.17 ml of solution.
